phoebe03cat wrote:Hi-very tempted by the Samsung LE32R72 on hot deals today. Anyone any personal experience of these please. Am wavering between this and the 40" spec...... Option for interest free credit also part of attraction. Technically illiterate-just want a good tellie so any help really appreciated. Don't really need widescreen or freeview - more interested in quality of picture and sound. Also appreciate any further ways to get price down of course. Thanks for any help/advice - don't want to make a mess up of this purchase.
If your gonna pay alot of money for an LCD then for future proofing you need a widescreen because thats what i believe everything will be transmitted in.Always looking for a bargain and to help0 -

and this from PC World AOC M19W 19" monitor with built in tv tuner going for £179 collect at store. Ive reserved one and might get it but cant find any info on it ie scart connectivety etc....
Just checked this out in PC World, it does have a SCART connector. One thing we all need to be aware of is that unless it says FreeView it will be a standard 5 channel set, however there are really small FreeView STBs that could easily be hidden below/behind the set for about £30 or less.
If you can find monitors with an AV connection it does seem to offer the cheapest way for a Flat Panel TV.
Incidentally, although it was not showing a TV transmission, which would probably have looked awful anyway, it did compare well with other TFTs showing the Windows Desktop. It looked pretty good.
I am thinking of getting one so if anybody has tried it, I would be interested to hear.
Cheers

Just picked up the argos one, £50 off until 26th feb, so only £149.99 and a half price wall bracket at £9.99 (accoustic solutions 15inch with freeview).Too many children, too little time!!!0 -
For those looking to save money at all costs for a LCD Freeview, this may be of interest. Available here for £50.
It is a stand-alone Freeview box with a difference, it has a VGA output which means that it can be iused with any PC Monitor (old or new) WITHOUT a PC. So maybe you have an old monitor (even CRT) or wish to search for a new low cost TFT model, then this could save you a £100 or more.
Not many Monitors have AV (SCART/Video) inputs so this is a different way round the problem.
I think it has been around a while, I had seen an old analogue (5 channel) system but not noticed the Digital Freeview model until now.
Personally I cant decide! I think where you want to wall mount then it means you have another box to hang with the monitor etc, but might be a good solution for a bedroom TV with a small monitor, especially if you were looking to upgrade your PC monitor. Remember to avoid using external speakers, the monitor would have to have them integrated and also have a separate Audio Input. Sounds cumbersome but they are around.
Let me now if I can help anyone.
Cheers
