Well... answering my own question.... :rotfl: .... I found this:

There must be one show for each person/couple.

Hello again Kathfisch i watched the spendaholics episode tonight ,thought the guy did respond well to the issues and realised he couldnt neglect his family responsibilities and realised there had to be changes.

One thing though is that he could potentially increase his earnings which is a great help if you can do that not all of us are so lucky :) having another career which was on hold so to speak.

Benjamin Fry does have a website connected to spendaholics but dont have the link anymore but google it and you should find it ok.

I think one or two people featured in the earlier series posted on there like the Die hard Chelsea supporter :)

I will watch the other episodes in this series as i like the presenters and agree it could be more how to manage your money with more practical advice etc.
This gives me an idea and i may contact them to suggest ideas which people would like to see included, but i reckon its more a situation thing with the person featured what do you think?

    Regards M

Have to say that I really felt that the programme tonight was top notch and far far better than many of the 'debt problem' programmes we normally see on TV.
Spendaholics has always concentrated on the emotional and psycholical reasons as to why many people get into debt and why they cannot stop spending but I really felt that tonights episode really handled this issue amazingly well.
Granted, it is a bit of a therapy light programme but you have to consider that this is an hour long show that also has to be entertaining.
I empathised with so much in the show tonight...my lightbulb moment was not realising how much debt I was in but rather realising that I was buying a lifestyle to hide the person I thought I was from others. Just like the guy in tonights show I spent £1000's on items that I thought would make me a more valid and worthwhile person. I thought that the issues raised tonight and the way they where handled made for interesting viewing and may well have made our plight more understandable to those people who think we are just selfish, stupid, immature or just downright irresponsible.
Programmes that show you how to change to 0% interest credit cards and where to buy cheap clothes are all well and good (Spendaholics has aspects of this) but the main issue is to get to the real reason why thousands of people seem compelled to go and spend vast amounts of money that does not, nor ever will, belong to them on a daily basis.
Once the reasons for your actions become clear and understandable to you, the ability to make and implement a plan of action becomes so much clearer...the decision to start buying Tesco's value bread because you cannot afford the luxury stuff is pretty worthless unless you understand why you have kidded yourself that you need the luxury stuff.
Spendaholics is by no means perfect but I was very impressed with the programme tonight and have high hopes for the rest of the series...it really seems to have progressed well from the last series.

Totally agree. Many thanks to the OP for letting us know it was on, otherwise, I would have missed it!

Personally, having had some therapeutic training Ive no iea how that guy can call himself a therapist.

The worst sort of practice, and Im surprised he wasnt struck off.

I was also quite surprised when the guy had moved all his films, I thought he wasn going to say he sold them, alas no hed just shoved them in a cupboard!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Yes, that's a bit silly, but at least the presenters introduce the idea of budgeting properly rather than simply advising people to sell a couple of convertibles.

Yes I agree - thought he was gonna say he 'e-bayed' them. Should have if you ask me!!
Also, wondered where the partner & kid were when they did the return visit.
Maybe they didn't get on with 'the real me!!'

I quite like the programme and the look on the emotional side. However I agree why did they not get him to sell some of those DVD's rather than just hide them away.

The therapy is a bit spookey but he obviously had some issues that needed to be worked through and I am sure we did not see the whole of the session he had.

I thought it was interesting that nothing was made of the fact that his girlfriend did not stop bailing him a bit sooner. If she had he would have had to stop spending so much money.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Thanks Kathfisch - this was the guy with the gorgeous stoves made out of VW parts - and the woman who ran yoga classes for surfers? They were the only ones of those I saw (I missed the first few) who seemed to have a hope in hell of paying off their mortgage. Will be interested to see how his business went - I would've bought one of his stoves if I could've afforded it!! :p

Hmmm, if people cannot see the significance of the fact that the DVD's had been moved then maybe the point was lost.

I have been in a buy and sell cycle for about 4 years that has lumbered me with huge debt and with very little to show for it. The guy obviously got enjoyment from his films and was attempting to earn more money to counter his debt problem and therefore took the decision to hold onto his films. When I look at all the treasured items I have sold to clear a debt, the reality is the pittance you get hardly touches anything....there is a much bigger picture that needs to be addressed for many people regarding debt and the spending of money.

To me, the moving of the DVD's indicated that whilst they where still important to him, he no longer felt the need to place material items on show to bolster his sense of worth and standing to the outside world.
