OK. I watched the programme. Now I know I'm going to come across as really callous here but I actually found myself agreeing with Ben Fry - I also thought the spendaholic was incredibly selfish. I felt genuinely sorry for his little boy.
Did you notice that his partner was solely responsible for paying off HIS debts?!? Saint or muppet?!?0 -
I missed the follow up though MegaTimbo. I'll have to catch it next time round. Cheers.0

He was selfish in his actions, but it did seem to be connected to a lot of issues of family/responsabilities etc.
I do think they are not as tough as they could be about debt... doesn't make such good tv... but I suspect they give them quite a bit more of the 'boring' financial advice behind the scenes. Its frustrating to see the 'and this is your reduced budget' bit and see an unnecessary area of spending (such as dvds or comic books) only cut in half instead of cut out althogether! I find myself thinking... the snowball calculator would show you how much of a difference that £50 (or more) could make to your debts!!!
But debts is not really what its about and I do enjoy the psychology aspect of it, even if it is a bit 'therapy lite' :rotfl:Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. I agree Kath - lots of underlying issues there.0
-
I was also wondering whether any of the featured Spendaholics are now MSE posters?0

Aren't there always!!
I don't know whether any of those featured are MSE posters, I know one or two from the bbc show 'pay off your mortgage in 2 years' did post... whatever happened to that show?! Surely we should be getting the year 2 follow up shows by now?Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Except for death and paying taxes, everything in life is only for now...
