The worst thing I ever did well I bought an mp3 player for £60 he sent me another accidentally and I told him and offered to send it back
(He even sent me an email during the same week asking me to hurry it along)
Then two weeks after the original broke so I had to give him even more money as I couldn't find the model anywhere else,

looking back I am so disappointed in my own honesty it certainly didnt pay lol
  • I honestly can't believe that the OPs were stupid enough to fall for it. Have you forgotten the golden rule? - There are no friends in business.

  • If they are sellers...............advise them that you will outbid everyone on anything they advertise........then never pay them!

Its nasty - you can reg as a nubie bayer so that it does not have an effect on your FB on your 'real account'!

You can also say that you will contact any Ebayers who sell to them and tell them that they are non.payers.

Often it is the 'threat' of such action that gets a response........don't feel guilty.they are not nice people as they have stolen from you!!!!

If you dont want to do this sleep easy in the knowledge that what goes around comes around. I honestly believe that bad things happen to bad people!!!

Thanks for your replies, it's not a bankrupting figure but nevertheless it's a piece of my much needed pin money.

I'm feeling very disillusioned with it all at the moment. Apart from this non-paying buyer I have about six other non-payers from the Christmas period. It's ok saying leave negative feedback but if they ALL retaliate that makes me look awful.
    Try goofbay's feedback sniper

That way they won't have time to retaliate :)

You have not said how much the item was worth. With all the hassle of chasing the person up with the payment etc is sometimes not worth the hassle.

I once sent an item to a guy who was in need of it, when they received the item they said they would send me a cheque in good faith that i had sent the item to them foc, the cheque never did turn up, & immediately i felt sick but the next day i put it down to one of them things.

Give them time to make things right, if they dont then file the NPB thingy and send them a nice email, they prob expect a really bad email from you calling them all the names in the sun.. but at the end of the day is it worth all the stress and hassle.

You may do this again 10 times, you may get stung once. If people cant be honest these days, then they have nothing left.

But that works in the ops favour - imagine how !!!!ed off you'd be if you got some £5 item, couldn't be bothered to pay, ignored the ebay warnings, ignored a letter and finally you end up with £30 court fees ontop of the £5 - and thats if you own up to it and it doesn't go to court, if it does the op can claim mileage to and from the court as well as for taking a day off work (up to £55 or so). How stupid do you think the buyer would feel if after not bothering to pay £5 they end up having to pay the best part of £100?

You may think I was stupid. I thought I was helping someone out. OK it has backfired on me but I would prefer to go through life being helpful even if it isn't replicated.

We all try to be nice sometimes, I may well have lost out as well over the Christmas period. I sent an item which buyer acknowledged but claimed had some damage, this was a regualr item of mine and one of my ids sells nothing but this and approx 10 a week. However I told her to return it and I would replace it. She asked me whether I could send the replacement first as she needed the item, so being Christmas I agreed, and since then I have heard nothing, and never got the alledged damaged item back.

In my case my unit cost was only £1 so not the end of the world, but like the OP this buyer has excellent feedback and I had no reason to doubt her honesty.
