MG that's brilliant. I always just freeze the stock then end up with too much for what I want to do as I have to defrost the whole lot.

On the make do and mend front, IKEA have come to the rescue and are posting free of charge all the bits I need to mend my broken chest of drawers! Great customer service, given it is about 6 years old! :T:T
Lurker alert...
Thank you so much for this post. My IKEA bed is just not right! I have bits missing since some frame upgrade or other and I live at least an hour and a half away and current (long term) circumstances mean I can't easily go to sort it out. I think I'll try and call them to see if they can do something similar for me.
Thanks again0 -
I also make chicken stock in bulk. (We have a Halal butcher locally who bones-out chicken and gives me a huge bag of the carcasses when I ask!) I reduce it so that it's super-concentrated and freeze in lolly-bags/ice cube bags so I can use as little or much as I need.0

Today is grump day
I knew I should have stayed in bed. A little lightbulb went on in my head this morning as I remembered that twerp left behind his Veet wax strips and having read the packet, know they can be used for hairy mary underarms. Well I followed the instructions and now I have a waxy sticky underarm as the wax stayed on me and the hair did not remove:eek: Can I get rid of the wax can I heckers like! So now I am sporting a pad of toilet roll in my armpit:o
It has been a seriously bad day as business bank allowed me to go over my overdraft limit and never told me so now they have cancelled my cheque book and people can't pay me anything as it all gets consumed so I cant pay venues either. On a good note they are not charging me this month whoopie doo. I sought some specific business debt advice and will be opening a foundation account elsewhere and that way what I earn can be used for what is supposed to be used for - I am not wriggling out fo the debt to the bank, I need some breathing space and need to build up my reserves. I have unlinked my business account from my paypal account too and have advised folks that breakfast is off on Tuesday. The bank have kindly cancelled my direct debits and standing orders and I was forced to ring my insurers to cancel my insurance so now I am not insured:mad:
I was without the internet this morning too and now virgin are coming out on Wednesday to fix it, I might just cancel it because it is working fine now. Horror of horrors as I had to complete that application and submit it but I nipped into the old workplace where I have been advised I can use a computer so did it there and sorted out my paypal at the same time.
I am rejigging my pricing - now there will be an annual membership fee of £75 and I will be charging £15 for breakfast as opposed to £10. I am determined to crack on even though the bank are being swines. And now my internet is back I will be able to list stuff on gumtree - now I have worked out what I am selling and what I want for it.
Horace maybe down but she is not out..plus I had a good chat with a nice hunk yesterday who gave me a free quince:cool:
Now I need to find a way of getting rid of this wax..grrr:mad:0 -
Oil removes wax Horace (depending on the kind probably, but water certainly won't)
Men  can someone point me to the rule that says you can't bury them under the patio as i need proof, not just hearsay0 -
Greenbee, I have always seen rules as flexible: the point is are you going to get caught? Sorry, to hear new trouble though!

Thanks greenbee - I looked it up on the internet at the same time - it seems there is a thread on ehow about removing veet wax. Oil - here I come.0

Oh, what's he done lol
I think it'd be kidnapping and assault or murder, depending on his outcome.
Sorry!0 -

Now why exactly have I invited 9 adults and 5 children over for lunch on Sunday, even though I know I won't hear back from them until tomorrow
(or in the case of family, probably not till Sunday morning).
I will need to spend tomorrow having a serious blitz in the house and praying the weather is good. I have a huge shoulder of lamb I can bung in the SC overnight, a large gratin dauphinoise I can defrost, and a strawberry cloud cake (recipe courtesy of hex) that will feed 8 for pudding. I can probably get away with that lot, some tabbouleh, salad or roast veg and some other pudding concocted from apples. It would just be nice to know numbers...0 -
Annual leave being interrupted on Monday - I'm the only person who can do what's needed and is available. This will enable a client to get home after 10 long weeks in hospital, so it's worth doing - just selfishly disappointed to be missing out on an overnight away on Sunday - one of my pre-booked £9 Travelodge deals. Had a couple of just-for-me things planned on Monday, a visit to a museum and a bit of pottering in lovely surroundings, in a place I'm very fond of .... ah well, not the end of the world and I'll get thinking of something else free/cheap to do later in the week.
Today's frog... I'm defrosting the fridge freezer... friend gave me 3 chickens (the supermarket type - dead, in poly bags! :rotfl::rotfl:Not live egg producers sadly). So I'm defrosting the freezer cos I had no space and it had iced up.... I may yet have to make blackcurrant jam, ie eliminate frozen blackcurrants to fit the chickens in....If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.
