S&S ISA fund discounts can be paid into ISA accounts, not as new subscriptions
I believe that the July 2011 edition of the Guidance Notes that has these additions was only recently published and that they are deciding what to do about it. Whether that's because they hadn't considered it or because it's now in writing that any of their customers can point to as officially from HMRC is something each of us will have to decide. Whether they are looking for an excuse not to do it, ditto.
They are the only platform or provider that has taken this stance.
The Skandia documentation I read says that commission for ISAs will only and always be paid to the IFA who sold the product, no option to have it paid into the ISA account or directly to the customer and no way to reduce the AMC by the commission that's not wanted because it was a fee-based sale. That's somewhat worse than the HL handling unless it's changed. At least with HL it is accumulating in a cash pot in the customer's name and there's a chance that HL can move it into the ISA on request.
