Sold my faulty phone
Options
Having put up with a water damaged Samsung Galaxy s for a few months, I stuck it on ebay and surprisingly got £125 for it. I've got about another 100-150 to put towards a new phone and would like to get the new Galaxy S ii, although looking at prices, I might have to opt for the same one again.
What's the best way to save my apps(if possible) and contacts from my old one before I sell it? Google Mail?
Any other recommendations other than the Galaxy for around £250ish?
I still have 14 more months left on my t mobile contract.
Thanks

your apps are already stored on the market are they not?0
-
Not sure. So I take it if that is the case, I just need to login and should get them back?0

Yep, your apps should all be stored on the android market so when you put your sim into a new phone and fire it up they should automatically download.
As for contacts, if you're on t-mobile then you can back-up all your contact info using a tool on their website (need to register for a my tmobile account if you haven't already)Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Yeah I'm sure I've got a login for an account on t mobile.
Any recommendations on other handsets? Like the new LG or Htc and windows models for around £250?0 -
I'm a big htc fan, preferably models that run the gingerbread version of android rather than windows.
I haven't done any shopping around recently (because I'm not due a new phone for a while and don't want to tease myself) so I don't know what £250 would get you from their range!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Well seems that the galaxy s and htc desire hd can be bought off ebay for around 200-220 quid so will go for one of them I think.0

Desire HD is a great phone.
You will be able to re-download all your apps the way that has been mentioned, but bear in mind this will just be a fresh install of them all, it will not retrieve any saved info (Ie progress in games etc.) Best bet is to backup your phone to the SD card, then copy the card onto your computer (or keep the card if you didnt include it in the price). When you get a new phone you can copy the backup onto an SD card and start using that. Many of the apps will need to be downloaded again but all your saved info will be kept.0 -
Yeah It's a tough choice as I like the Galaxy and I have quite a few accessories, like car cradle and car charger, but tempted by the desire HD as well. Still, a nice dilemma to have!
I never got a sd card so I just backed up my phone to samsung kies.0 -
There is a free app called appbrain that makes finding all the apps you won for the new phone a doddle0

If you are using an android phone, why aren't you simply putting your contacts into your gmail account - you must have one if you are accessing and downloading apps via android market?0
