Wrong actually, Mac Mini CPUs are soldered onto the motherboard

The iMac and MacBook can be replaced and the laptops too but not the Mac Mini

Macbooks & Macbook PROs Have soldered CPUs to save space

If you want to learn how to work a computer - buy a PC

If you want to do work on a computer - buy a MAc

The salesman in PC world says that he hates to sell a Mac to someone as they won't be back for 4 years for an upgrade. With a PC it is in 18 months.

The new Windows Vista has only just incorporated many of the features of Mac system that has been out for ages. And remember that you can install and runs Windows on it. (but why anyone would beats me!)
  • They just cater for different needs, due to my needs i'd never buy a mac. A PC is much better for what i want. I always like machines built from the ground up, so a mac simply isn't an option. Mac's are just overpriced, there is nothing else wrong with them.

Shouldn't go to PC World then should you:D

It's complete cobras to say that PC owners will be back to upgrade in 18 months but Mac owners are happy for 4 years:p

80%+ of global office work is done on PC's so if Apple's products were that effective, that wouldn't be the case would it?

Macs suit certain types of people who are prepared to pay over the odds for them and do certain types of work.

The rest of the world gets along just fine with PC's;)

As of 9.30 this morning 4 Toys R Us stores each had one of these for £199! -Lincoln, Solihull, Derry & Ilford. Others may have display models but I couldn't persuade Glasgow to sell me their display one. Thought about trying to get John Lewis to pricematch but I think they've already moved up to the 1.66Ghz version at £400 plus.

Sorry I don't have any more specs on it but it's a great little piece of kit and if you get desperate you can even install windows on it.
Fantastic bargain if any of you are near these stores but call first and reserve it!

rang about 8 stores - no-one has ANY

Let's not forget the "Apple tax" with their annual upgrade! :D

I have to disagree with you there.

Actually if you compare a mac to a pc like for like in spec you will find the mac is same price if not cheaper. A macbook pro was compared to a Dell laptop recently and guess which was more expensive! :p

Macs are not as compatible with software as PC's which will explain why pcs are more widely used. The database at work will not run on mac and im sure we are not the only company to experience this.

It certainly could. You are being terribly simplistic. Do a little research on the history of Microsoft, its brilliant marketing and its dirty tricks, and you might be enlightened. But then I sense that you will not be willing to believe what you read.

This thread is about a Mac bargain; it is not a Mac vs PC war. So stop lobbing in grenades.

    Hey, I didn't start it!

Anyone who states "Ultimately buy a mac for trouble-free computing" needs that statement challenged!

There are loads of PC deals that represent as good (or better) value in terms of usability, compatibility, reliability and upgradeability so I'll just chuck that grenade in. Plus the fact, this deal doesn't even seem to be available :p
