Failing badly here! Due to the total disorganisation of the food shop this month (OH has taken over to help me out financially) I've ended up picking up some reduced fresh items over the last few nights to semi-stock up the freezer again. So I'm hoping I won't have to buy food next week. Here's hoping I grab a few NSDs then as I don't see me getting many over the weekend.

Just had to go back and check where I was up to in reporting NSDs
So last report of an NSD was Sunday (at #5), and Monday was reported as a spend day
Tuesday made NSD #6
and
Wednesday made NSD #7
But today was a spend dayAnd even without an unanticipated spend it would have been because the window cleaner called for paying this evening
Many thanks to all for comments re: the dog situation, but the rehoming is currently on hold - and not down to me and my feelings!!
On Tuesday morning I felt a bit of a lump on one of his shoulders, but didn't thnk much of it immediately.
Tuesday lunchtime I checked him over again, and it was definitely there. Wondered if it was a cyst (the elderly Yorkie I had for a couple of years got a couple that required treatment), so on my way home from work I booked an appt at the vet for this morning.
On Wednesday evening (when the lady from the organisation phoned) I let her know about it, and she said Dalmatians are prone to fatty something-or-others, and if it felt like a ball I could grasp and roll around under his skin then that was probably all it way - but I wasn't convinced it was what she was trying to describe. The only good thing was that it clearly wasn't bothering the dog either in general or when I messed with it
So this morning we trotted off to see his friend (he loves going to see the vet!)
From feeling it she said not the fatty thing. She then stuck a needle and tried to get something out of it with the needle in several positions (and only one slight complaint from the dog when it was moved), but nothing to indicate it was an infection which was what she was looking for (however, once the tiny bit of clear fluid she did manage to get out dried on a glass plate she confirmed no indications of it being a fatty whats-it as you can see the fat separate everything if it is).
So he's now on steroids until next Thursday, which should show it reduce in size by the end of the weekend if it's a reaction to a sting or bite (and I left after paying out just over £28)
If there's no reduction in size, then he's booked in to have the lump removed next Thursday (at a cost of 'somewhere just over £200' which includes lab tests on the removed lump  ). She said they could just do a biopsy, but that would cost half of what the total removal will (due to it only being a small lump for removal) - and if tests then confirm it to be a nasty tumour (or come back inconclusive) they'd have to remove the lump anyway. The test to get confirmation of what it is (around £60 of the total bill) is optional, but the rehoming can't go ahead without an answer, and even if I weren't looking to rehome him I'd want to know.
So it may clear with the steroids, and the rehoming is back on the cards.
Or it may need removing but get the all-clear, which just means more of a delay before the rehoming is back on the cards (subject to chap being happy with the results).
Worst case scenario is that it comes back as a nasty requiring expensive treatment. If that happens then the rehoming will be shelved (can't see the chap wanting him in that case), but I can't afford the treatment so the dog will have to be put to sleep - and that's exactly the scenario I was hoping to avoid when I contacted the organisationCheryl0 -
Oh Cheryl, sorry to hear about dog's lump. IF it does come back with the worst news, it might be worth looking into some animal protection charities who could help fund his treatment. I don't know if it would be an option etc but it's just a thought as i know it is something some try to offer. Or, would your kids be able to assist in costs (obviously not DS at uni) but since your other DS was so against you putting dog up for adoption perhaps he could help pay for the treatment given he wanted to keep dog?

This challenge is so much harder than I thought it would be. I didn't realise I spent money so often. I am happy to report NSD #6. I have another 8 to go to hit my target and only 13 days of the month left. 5 of those are definite spend days so I might just scrape it if I'm lucky.0

Elder son is currently out of work, and struggling to come to an agreement with a finance company over his car..... they won't let him sell it until he settles up with them, and won't accept the payment from a third party. So if someone wanted the car they'd have to pay him the money, then wait until he'd paid off the finance and got a release letter before he can sign the car over to the buyer - and no-one's going to agree to that :mad:Cheryl0 -
NSD 5! Yes, only one more to reach my target. If I reach it I think I'll try and raise it next month.Save0

Hmmmm.... I've just spotted the dreaded "f" word here, fakeplastictwee
We don't do "fail" here, we just don't quite meet our targets. Life has a habit of throwing all sorts of obstacles in our way and sometimes NSDs just aren't possible.
Well done to your OH for taking over the food shopping this month. If that's helping you financially then it's worth a lot.
You have 4 NSDs in the bag already and the possibility of a few more before the end of the month so be proud of what you've achieved so far and give yourself a pat on the back.
(((hugs)))
