If your boys really don't want him to be rehomed then between them they could contribute to his costs and help you out. If you did decide to keep him though have you thought of advertising for a dog walker/foster parent through your vet? I have seen similar adverts for people who are out at work all day and want someone to share the dog walking. Lots of dog lovers can't own one for one reason or another but would still enjoy regular walks with a dog for company? Anyhow it's just a thought - good luck with what you decide - you will make the right decision:)
Only dog walkers around here have to be paid for (and our vets doesn't have a board for any type of adverts - the only two I've ever seen have been missing pet ones on the actual counter), and the rates I've seen some of them ask for would mean I could give up at least 2 hours a day at work to walk the dog myself without being any worse off :eek:Cheryl0 -
Hi,
Sorry haven't been on for a few days, not really had a chance to.
I have managed to get a few NSD in whilst I've been away though :-) Sat I had to spend as needed bread, also figured as I'd already had a spend day I'd buy a few clothes from ebay for DD. Sun was a NSD as was Mon. Technically Tue was a spend day but the things I bought were for posting my ebay things so I wont count it as it was reimbursed in the P+P charges. Also made £45 soo far from my ebay sales, and was bought a glass of wine my a customer at work tonight (I work in a pub) so don't even have to buy myself a drinkie :-) So not doing to badly at the moment!
If I'm correct that would make an additional 4 NSDs which I think is now 8.
Only 2 more to go till I'm on my target :-)
Will catch up on the parts of the thread I've missed now, good luck and well done to everyone.0 -
Thankyou all for the warm welcome
BDINI good to know I'm joining a bunch of fellow loons :rotfl: good luck with your date too:lovethoug:Lloyds Loan (£0/£6000) Emergency Fund (£113/£1000) ISA £592.240 -
Hi Cheryl
I'm agreeing with what BDINI, kerri and everyone else has said. You have to put yourself first in this decision as you're the one looking after and maintaining the dog, not your sons. They're doing the emotional blackmail thing with you and it's really not fair - sorry if that's a a bit blunt, I really don't want to hurt your feelings xx If they're prepared to pitch in both financially and with looking after the dog then, fair enough, they should have some input in the decision but if you're left with everything, which it seems you are, then you need to decide what's right for you.
Could DD have a word with them both and try to put your side of things to them - maybe they'll take it more from her?
It's a hard decision for you to make but if you are going to let him go then the Dalmatian Rescue society has to be the best option for him even if you can't meet the prospective new owner. They are familiar with Dalmatians and their needs and, having rehomed lots of animals in the past, they're well used to this situation and the new "owner" will have been very carefully vetted. I would imagine they won't want to run the risk of the dog being returned to them as that will involve them in all sorts of expense, etc, etc.
If they're not happy about you meeting a prospective new owner for your dog, would they be prepared for you to contact the owner of another dog they rehomed to give you some input on how everything was handled and some reassurance that everything is OK? Would that make you any less anxious about everything?
We're all behind you and will support you with whatever decision you make.
Sending you a massive ((((((hug))))))

He's a friend of a couple i met when i first moved up here, they are probably some of the closest friends i have now. I've known him for quite a while on a casual basis as we often do things as a group with some of their other friends (who are all lovely!), & more recently we have been chatting by text or on FB & decided that we should go out alone to get to know each other a bit better.
Friday is that time, he's made a few veiled comments about a relationship, so although the "D" word hasn't actually been used, i am assuming it's our first date!!
Woohoo feel like a teenager again, but also immensely relieved that i finally seem to have put ex behind me enough to be really looking forward to this, even if it doesn't work out it will be nice to get some practise in!
Oh yes & it's number 8 for me today, really wanted to buy something new for Friday, but resisted by reminding myself it's not my outfit he's taking for a drink & that i have loads of lovely clothes, followed by duly trying on every item i own in a bid to decide what to wear :rotfl:
That's brilliant, BDINI, I'm really pleased for you. Hope you have a lovely time.
