  • Morning all! :hello:

Well yesterday was NSD no 8! :j We got pizzas for dinner from Morrisons but DH paid! ;)

I'm going to try to have NSD no 9 today, but we're off to see a comedian at the local theatre tonight and it's always reaaaally hot in there so may need to buy a cold drink during the interval. I'm going to sneak a couple of drinks from home in though. :o

Beanie - sorry to hear that about DS, fingers crossed he can get something else. I (many moons ago now) only ended up passing one A level at sixth form so couldn't do a degree and ended up doing an HND in something completely different. Turned out it was something I enjoyed and I've now been working in the media for 10 years, so it can work out. :)

Cheryl - I agree with other posters. You need to do what's best for you. I'm sure the rehoming group checks the potential owners thoroughly and that you have nothing to worry about. I think it's also what's best for the dog. Can't be easy for you though.

I hope everyone has a good day! And remember, it's nearly Friday!:dance::dance:

Morning all, declaring early this morning. So with yesterday and today as NSDs, I have a total of 11 NSDs now, really pleased so far. :)

So sorry to hear about your dog, Cheryl it is really hard, and I can sympathise with you. Lots of (((hugs))), but you do need to do what's best for both of you. The charity specializing in your breed has lots of experience, so has this procedure set up for a reason, even if it is difficult to deal with at the time.

We had to find a home for our first dog, an English Springer. We were off to Holland for a year (ended up being nearly 3) and I knew he would have hated the 6 months quarantine coming back home, this was pre-passport days. I had to arrange it all myself as DH was already over there working. It broke my heart, but I knew it was best for him, despite the heart-ache for me. I too went through a charity and I did meet the new owners, but only for a few minutes as they took him away with them. I was so choked I forgot to give them his toys, but the husband came back to collect them...I must have looked terrible as he gave me a big hug and lent me his hankie!! :o

Right, off to give DS2 a hand weeding in the garden before the rain comes.

Oh Spoon, you're so right about working from home...much cheaper. The dyeing session went very well and really pleased with the results, it's so easy, I will probably be doing it again soon. :)

  • Spend day today, but I've stuck to my shopping list.I even resisted buying two very tempting items at the flea market.By the by,I'd love to be able to haggle, but never can work up the courage.Monty Python thundering in my ears:'This bloke won't 'aggle!'.

Hoping to get three in a row over the next few days.

Cheryl I do feel for you;not an easy situation.I agree with what others have said:you must do what's best for you.I'm sure the charity know what they're doing, even if it does seem a bit strange.Best wishes to you x

    Cheryl, i agree with beanie.

I guess it is hard not to worry, but i am sure that the charity are thorough, especially as they get the dog back if it doesn't work out, i could be wrong but i kind of think that might make them more careful as they have such a vested interest in the re-homing being a success.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but i also think that you have to put yourself before the boys, as you say it is you that has all the responsibility & cost, & certainly with youngest he can't physically be around whilst at uni to help out, i understand the emotional attachment they have, but you have been through a tough time too & have to take your needs into account.

I think your gut will ultimately tell you what you need to do, but i certainly think that if that turns out not to be meeting the owner & letting doggy go anyway, then you would have nothing to feel bad about & really shouldn't let other peoples opinions tell you otherwise.

Hope that helps in some way, but good luck & ((((((((big hugs)))))))), whatever you decide to do.

Cheryl, I echo all the thoughts of Beanie, BDINI, Spoon and Keiss. It's a very difficult decision but you must do what's best for you. Unfortunately, when you got the dog you couldnt have foreseen how your life was going to change over the years. You are a very realistic person and I know you will have wrestled this in your mind to get to this stage. I think you have to trust the rehoming charity as they will have thoroughly vetted the new owner. I agree,if you kept him, it would be ghastly if you had to face having him put down were you to be faced with a large vet bill. Better to cut your losses now and know that you will have done what's best for not only the dog but you. You have had a rough few years by the sounds of things and I feel you deserve to have a bit of freedom and one less thing to worry about. I'm sorry if I am overstepping the mark by saying this but I'm sure you know that it is well meant and said with care and kindness. In the meantime, please know we are all supporting you no matter what you decide - here's a hug!

Ok, ok Jinty, please stop shining that light in my eyes.... & as for the water torture, think of the water meter ha ha!!
He's a friend of a couple i met when i first moved up here, they are probably some of the closest friends i have now. I've known him for quite a while on a casual basis as we often do things as a group with some of their other friends (who are all lovely!), & more recently we have been chatting by text or on FB & decided that we should go out alone to get to know each other a bit better.
Friday is that time, he's made a few veiled comments about a relationship, so although the "D" word hasn't actually been used, i am assuming it's our first date!!

Woohoo feel like a teenager again, but also immensely relieved that i finally seem to have put ex behind me enough to be really looking forward to this, even if it doesn't work out it will be nice to get some practise in! :D

BDINI - ok, I've put the torture instruments away now that my curiosity has been satisfied! Wow, that sounds great........... I'm delighted for you. It's always a thought taking the first steps with someone new so it's good you have been friends first. ( Crikey, listen to auld mammy here!)
    Have a great time ;)

    Beanie:j
for the weight loss, I only lost 1/2 today despite sticking totally to the programme, but it's still a loss so that's good!
