    Hi

I'd like to switch to Co-op but it's too expensive.

I'm Leckie only but us Midlanders fair best with the Coop. Flat 9.09p Incl VAT per Kwh + £63 annual SC.

I'm with Ebico as there are no tiers and standing charges.

I do regular reviews and they are the cheapest for pre-payment based on my usage. Gas a huge difference, esp in the summer and Electricity very slight.

With the pending price rise I'll review once posted.

Is it a 10% discount that you get?

um tbh i really not sure excatly what the discount is. we got the usual discount of 5% becuase we pay by dd, then we get a discount as we have gas and elec combined . and then on the bill it usually just says an amount took off for staff discount i'm not sure it gives the percentage.

    Hi Broxis,

I'm currently with EDF on OS7. The reason was price and price alone. The product also included a £100 welcome bonus and a quidco £80. During the winter, the EDF price was held at it's competive level.

There is absolutely nothing else positive to say about it. The billing and customer service operation is basically 'not fit for purpose'.

On a personal level,I will say that EDF have allowed me try and sort out some of the problems with Senior people within the organisation. However, that doesn't excuse the appalling service they have given.

Basically what I was going to post (apart from the senior people contact thing). One thing I have vowed: when I do eventually leave EDF I will never go back to them.

I am with Scottish Power but not for long after they increased their prices, in particular, punishing the frugal. On the plus side, I must say I have had no problem with their custmomer service or website.

I ditched British Gas and NPower after so many bad experiences amongst my sheltered housing tenants with their billing and customer services. After I left, British Gas kept making annoying sales calls - despite me being on the telephone preference service. Hell will freeze over before I go back to them.
I moved to Scottish Power, which was cheaper. On a dual fuel direct debit web tarif. I've changed tarifs once within Scottish Power.
I suppose I should look around again but I'm happy with their customer service and billing. Plus you get an automatic refund if you get above a set amount in credit.
I may look around when the market seems to have settled for a while. But you could easily spend your life chasing the cheapest tarifs and switching suppliers. It's just one merry-go-round as they all raise their charges in turn. It would be different if you had the inside info on what they all have planned ;)

    Hi

    Thanks.

Just did a comparison on the Co-op Energy website. Dual fuel is £136 more than I pay now. (Electric only is £135 more)

I'm with Ovo fixed until end of Jan next year, was debating wether or not to go to EDF 2014 but decided against it, it worked out about £70 a year more + the £60 exit fee from Ovo so I'll stay put til Jan then see what Ovo offer up.

I went with Ovo because they were the cheapest deal for me in a previous property on their variable rate tariff, was quite happy with them so decided to fix with them when I moved here.

Price is always the deciding factor for me but I have to say I do like the clarity of Ovo's bills and tariff structure. Why companies like BG have to have such stupidly complex discounts is beyond me. (well I know exactly why they do it, I just dont agree with it)

I'm with Swalec. Mainly because I'm too bone idle to switch. I pays my money, and I takes my choice! :P

Hmm this thread is beginning to sound like and advert for British gas -- so here's a balancing comment! We left BG several years ago and prompltly saved ourselves a couple of hundred pounds a year. On that basis alone I would never go back to them. We're now with npower who have proved remarkably easy to deal with, especially given the bad press they get. We quickly get through to a UK callcentre where the staff are helpful and actually seem able to make decisions rather than just reading scripts to fob you off.

We recently got a letter saying that our fix was ending and we would be transferred to standard rate. We called up found a new fix and they dropped the dd by £20 a month and refunded £277 credit without being asked. You do have to keep an eye on your accoount and not automatically trust suggested annual increases but if you are prepared to make a case they actually listen and respond.

You couldn't pay me to go back to BG who I found inflexible, unhelpful and expensive.

And you couldn't pay me to go back to Npower who I found inflexible, unhelpful, and expensive. I switched from them to swalec about a year and a half ago due to the awful customer service they gave me. Absolutely terrible it was :(
