I've switched to Ovo due to Scottish Power's price increase.

They don't start supplying me until tomorrow, but so far they've been extremely quick to answer emails and have kept me informed every step of the way. I went with them because they seem more straightforward than the others.

    Hear, Hear!

why are you with your current supplier?

Because I'm sick of the big six Cartel*.

I'm with the Coop as it gave me the biggest discount for single fuel switching £50 plus I get a share of the profits as Coop divi for being a member just like a shareholder. Equally importantly, it was the best saving for a non-fixed tariff, c. £100 p.a. with my electricity consumption, and has no exit penalty. I didn't want to fix as all I would be doing was locking into the cartels* higher prices.

*(As cartels are illegal I'll have to begrudginly use the word alledgedly when making reference to the word cartel although Ofgem is a tad suspicious given it's investigations.)

    Hi

I'm with npower, SOL21. It's still the cheapest tariff, I submit online meter readings just before my bill is duel and receive £105 refund after 12 months DD payments.

I'd like to switch to Co-op but it's too expensive.

were with southern electric. have been for over 7 years. main reason is , ok so they are higher unit prices etc. but we have never had a single problem. any time we have had to phone them, their customer service has been brillent. we have always thought sometimes it is better to pay a little more and get a good service.

we have our telephone, gas and elec with them. and are extremely happy with service on all the utlities they supply.

hubby works for SSE , so we do get a good staff discount on them all so it makes their prices very competative.

Is it a 10% discount that you get?

With EDF, joined a couple of years ago as their online saver tariffs were the cheapest around. My bills came down considerably since changing to them.

I was on v7 however they hiked the prices of that considerably recently so I have now gone to fixed rate 2 before they hike the rates up and follow the rest.

As for customer service etc I can't say I have had any problems but the online access took an absolute age to setup, although I am now able access it. :)

So in general I am happy with EDF as I'm still paying less now than I was with my previous supplier Swalec from a couple of years ago.

I'm with British Gas mainly for 2 reasons, firstly we have a pre-payment meter and I love their home top-up especially last winter when it saved me going out in the snow to top up and secondly we're on their Home Energy Care register because my OH is long term sick & disabled.

Last year I rang up because there was something wrong with my meter, 5 minutes later someone rang me back and said because we were on the register they would keep in contact with me and someone was on their way, within 20 minutes the engineer was at my door and the problem was fixed. The person from BG rang me about an hour later just to check that the problem was fixed and we were happy with the service.

I know BG get lots of complaints about their customer service but I have always found them very helpful and I haven't had any problems at all.

Just to add I've never worked for them so I'm impartial. :D

I'm in the process of switching to Co-op. They came out cheapest on two comparison sites; I'll get £50 cashback from them for switching; I'll get 'divvy'* points, including an extra 25 points for giving them a meter reading every month, and I like the Co-op. Did a bank account switch some years ago and stayed with the bank as I liked the people in the bank and online is easy peasy. I also get the 'divvy' with the bank account too.

This will be my third switch in a year (EDF to Eon to Scottish Power to Co-op). All to relatively cheaper tariffs (yes, of course, costs have increased) and all with cashback. Would be happy to deal with any of them again in the future.

*I think they call them participation shares or something. You get vouchers but I do have a Co-op close to me.

    I'm with Scottish Hydro Electric.
Not by choice, but because we are all-electric on an old tarriff which S H E won't let other companies take over (total heating with total control). I could change to econ 7 but whenever I've compared the no of units we use the difference is < £50 for the year so I reckon I'd rather get boosts throughout the whole 24 hour period (instead of 7 hours ain one go at night and have cold heaters by evening), and have a warm home in the winter than worry about £50 over the year.
That said my bills are lower than others here pay for gas and electric so they can't be all bad, and whenever I've called them up I get clued-in people who are polite and can speak English so that's a plus too.
(I pay £100 p/m for 3 bed detatched bungalow, but this will be revised (lower) soon as I will reach the end of my "year" in August and I am nearly £300 in credit)

    It's only a game
