Me too I'm afraid - I called up last night after an annoying week of intermittent connection, and after performing the promised line test, my broadband's gone off. (I'm at work now!) She said it would be slower than usual for 7 days but she never mentioned it would stop working altogether.
She started by telling my my hub was faulty (which it might be, it's 5 years old), but then decided that it was an exchange error. (Or at least I think that's what she said, it's hard to know for sure)
She also told me I wasn't allowed to call back for 10 days.. if I did the fault call would be cancelled, and I then would have to wait a further 15 days before anyone would do anything
Actually, I think I prefer intermittent to not at all!
I'd just like to know if I wil be able to use my internet at all for the next week, (and if I am expected to pay for a service I am not getting)0 -
David (BT rep), I am looking to move back to BT for calls and Broadband. Can you tell me if there is a UK call centre? One of the reasons for moving from AOL back to BT is that I thought there was a UK call centre.Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0

If you want a UK call centre try Plusnet which is owned by BT.0

Hi DCodd

1st level - no (AFAIK). 2nd level - maybe. Chances of getting PAST 1st level? Negligible.
(I might be making up that last comment, but I suspect not).0 -
Could I comment also regarding my BT broadband please?
Having up to now had fabulous 10 years with BT as my internet server.
Unfortunately about 8 weeks ago our internet became extremely slow for a couple of weeks. Also my 3 neighbours all on BT had exactly the same problem. So I rang BT to try & sort out the problem.
Very helpful person had me disconnecting, rebooting, resetting etc but to no avail.
It eventually righted itself
Then I recieve an email from BT stating I was very close to my broadband usage allowance & would be charged £5 if I go over 10GB.
Strange as never once have we had this before.
Anyway bill arrives this morning - we've been charged £5 as we went over the 10GB
I rang BT Customer Services & explained & the nice chap said he would remove the charge, but as yet not showing as removed. I'll give it till monday & ring again if still not showing as a credit.
Shame this has happened as I can't praise BT enough normallyOur Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...

Are you running a secure wireless network? If you are using an old BT HomeHub with WEP security, that is now obsolete and no longer secure, ypou ned to upgrade to WPA or WPA2.
Someone else may be 'borrowing' your bandwidth. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thank you Macman
I have a nice black curved Bt home hub 2. Is this the correct one please?
We have never downloaded music or films & rarely watch iPlayer.
One other neighbour so far has also had the £5 charge as well on their billOur Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...
