That's easy to say but still, many wouldn't do it. I salute his integraty.

Sorry, this joke is getting old now, don't want to beat a dead horse any longer.

Clearly you are in your element here, though I suspect someone will be telling you to get a life.
  • I had an interesting incident the other day, talking of shoes. The loop on the lace of my trainer had somehow gone over the clutch pedal and I couldnt lift my foot onto the pedal! Fortunately it was in quite a benign situation so I just stomped the brake and stalled the car and sorted my feet out! 30 years of motoring and never had that happen!

I do like driving in bare feet though in the summer.

Sandals and other inappropriate footwear whilst driving, are just another symptom of making cars too much like a living room.... Too soft, too easy to drive, put on your favourite comfy shoes and go.

I believe that in the USA, inappropriate footwear is the number one biggest cause of accidents, closely followed by the elderly. Where in the UK it's speeding and young drivers.

Someone been messing with the stats much?

Not sure if this was a sarcastic post, but if I'm driving a distance, anywhere other than in town, I ALWAYS am barefoot. Gives MUCH more control & 'feel' of the vehicle!!

PS I did see somenone, or rather, heard someone who had put their flip flops on the wrong feet. Went around all day going flop flip, flop flip.....

I once got my shoelace tangled around the pedal of my bicycle - as I tried to move forward the whole thing jammed and I almost fell off.

I now wear shoes with lock laces for cycling.

If Im wearing unsuitable footwear, ie: sandals, hiking boots, etc I'll always take them off and drive barefoot. Driving barefoot is probably better and easier than driving with any shoes on to be honest but sometimes its a hassle to take them off.

Barefoot is the best way I think - you can feel much more and make more minute adjustments, thus improving mpg amongst other things. Also nice in summer if you don't have aircon.
