Whilst on holiday once I was sitting with a group of people around a table ripping the p1ss out of those that wear socks with sandals (just don't do it-ever) when a chap got up and stormed off, in, yes you've guessed it, socks and sandals! Teachers.0

TBH I think walking boots are just as dangerous as flip flops, big chance of hitting more than 1 pedal.
Good point, in fact any kind of "clubby" footwear. The other thing which was highlighted in the programme I watched, were platform shoes, and women wearing high heels (although men wearing high heels would be equally dangerous:D).
I prefer a really comfortable pair of trainers with thinnish soles (which do not slip on the pedals when wet).0 -

I find hill starts in roller-skates quite tricky.0

Didn't think I would but drove around NZ and various bits of OZ in Crocs (one blue on green), no issues whatsoever.
I've got another pair like that - somewhere.0 -

So do I sometimes, but I have in the past also driven in clogs.
The scariest moment came when I was driving in Doc Martens and the protuding side of the sole got caught behind the brake pedal and my foot was stuck on the accelerator  not a huge issue I just depressed the clutch, but for a moment I could feel my heart racing.0 -
