I watched a sports car spin 180 degrees then make a nice dent in the side of a relative's Merc. Road was dry, weather sunny, all the sports car had done was (attempt) to come to a halt at a roundabout. The reason? The lady driving had caught her flimsy summer sandal in the accelerator.
I never drive in sandals with any kind of flip flop design - only completely enclosed ones.0 -
Completely enclosed sandals??0

Completely enclosed sandals??
Shoes with ventilation cut outs?;)
Seriously, they have a heel piece.
There was an interesting piece on the Beeb a couple of years ago, about women in particular, wearing unsuitable shoes for driving, and the common cause of accidents, was shoes becoming trapped between/underneath pedals.0 -
I drive in sandals sometimes as well. There is no issue as long as they fit well.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

We were hit last year by a woman who had got her sandals in a muddle on the pedals. I was on the way ck back from the hospital with a lot on my mind and really wasn't too worried but the towbar was imbedded about a foot into her car. I will be very surprised if her radiator remained intact. (The towbar on a Cherokee is about a foot long to clear the spare wheel)0

If your driving it properly fitted sandals there shouldn't be a problem (i.e. those with a strap around the ankle that don't come off easily), it's flip flops that are a problem.
TBH I think walking boots are just as dangerous as flip flops, big chance of hitting more than 1 pedal.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0
