Re using Wallpaper - A moneysaving step 2 far?

Hi
My first post on this board, so Apologies if my topic isn't quite in the right place...
My friend is moving out of her flat and she has the most gorgeous wallpaper, all multihued tones of gold and purple it looks really regal and luxurious! The buyer has asked if she can strip all the walls and paint everything white. I've always admired her wallpaper and wished I could also find some... No avail though as it was bought abroad and costs £50 a roll! May not be a lot to some but I'm a frugal spender!
Anyway she managed to salvage most of it when she was pulling it off, and asked if I'd like it. I accepted
The problem I'm facing now, is I'm having my room redecorated next week, so it'd be ideal to use then. Thinking of only using it for a feature wall, as it'd be overkill to use it all over. She had lining paper underneath the wall paper so a few bits still remain on the underside of the wallpaper she's given me...
Does anyone know if it'll still stick to the wall despite the lining paper stuck underneath it?
Has anyone actually re used wallpaper or is it a money saving step too far?
Thanks for the help

Hi Shanelle,
As this is more of a DIY question than Old Style I've moved it over to the In my home (includes DIY) MoneySaving board where you should get more advice.

Thank you for moving it!
Hopefully I'll get a better response here xx:rotfl: (Hint):T0 -
I'm thinking this might not work...
the paper on the back of the wallpaper...if it is not all one level, this will notice when the paper is on the wall.
If you can sort thru the bits, so they are all the same thickness this will be less noticeable on the wall.
Good luck anyways, hope you take your time, cos that does help.C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down. The lining paper stuck to the wall, isn't noticably thick and doesn't really affect the appearance of it i.e the thickness. Its a very thin layer and most of it seems to have .... unsure of how to put this sort of gone bobbly.... Kind of when you rip wallpaper and you can feel the bobbly textures of the ripped bits :rotfl:Not done a great job of explaining... But hopefully you get what I'm trying to say
Do you think normal wallpaper adhesive should work? Horrible images of me wallpapering and it sliding down the wall :rotfl:
Thanks for the advice though I probably wouldn't have thought of this myself x :A0 -
That doesn't sound good!
I'd take the largest flattest pieces you can & frame them as pictures on your wall if you really must use them. Paint the wall abackground cour from the paperto match. But don't risk trying to put bobbly used wallpaper onto your walls as wallpaper0 -
Removing it has almost certainly stretched it, so it is unlikely that the pattern will match when it is rehung.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Second-hand, pre-used wallpaper? About as much use as second-hand, pre-used toilet paper."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

As you got the paper for free I would be tempted to give it a go and see what happens, a worst you will have to strip it off again, at best you will have a room you love. Good luck.Slightly bitter0
