As you got the paper for free I would be tempted to give it a go and see what happens, a worst you will have to strip it off again, at best you will have a room you love. Good luck.

The only problem with this is that it sometimes ends up costing you more to put things right, either in money or time

If you want to use it do as someone above says and that would be to frame some as a focal point, bin the rest:p

If the paper is in good condition I see no reason why hanging it again isn't technically possible. You may however run in to problems with pattern matching as it's already cut to roughly room hight sections - so if considering hanging it again I would lay it all out somewhere and try to see which pieces line up with which before doing anything. Chances are reasonable however that you'll find sections could be missing or have holes for sockets and doors where you don't have them. If however you have lots to work with and only want a small one wall section, you could perhaps work around this.

If you do encounter problems, the idea of framing some as a feature could work. It might also work really well to paint the wall a complimenting colour then use a template to cut out some big shapes you like and paste those to the wall as a feature? Find something you like and get a copy shop to print a blown up version on thin card to make the template.
