Reserved bits at nearest store with stock- 40 mile round trip. Only to get there and find out that they have none. Excellent. Missed a call from them cancelling order. What is the point of click and collect service if they don't even hold/have the goods for you. Not very happy at all.

i feel really bad now for posting this.

stock in south manchester has been ok and i haven't had any problems.

i wonder if some of the staff have kept items for themselves?

Not your fault OP, good spot, just shoddy level of service from B & Q.

I ordered yesterday afternoon in the hope i could pick up items that evening when i went to work but order confirmation said to collect from 7 am saturday. Wonder what their explanation will be?

<EDIT> Just had a quick look online and items I ordered are showing in stock for reservation still. Surely they should at least be updating their systems to sort this problem. Incompetent Fools!!!!

    Just sent of my rant;

Hi I recently saw your great deals on camping equipment and coupled with a good offer we could get on a tent thought this would be a great little package to help us get away in the holidays. However following my reservation was told to collect sat morn. I travelled 20 miles to get to store only to find that there is no stock!! What is the point of having this service if it is not controlled properly. I have looked online again today and the items that i ordered are STILL showing as in stock and available, I find this to be a wholly unacceptable level of service from a major UK retailer. I shall remember in the future to look elsewhere for click and collect/collect in store service as you are obviously unable to operate yours to any level of customer satisfaction

  • Don't feel bad op - I managed to get a large cool box for £5, exactly what I was looking for so many thanks. :D

    Its B&Q who are rubbish.

My OH works in our nearest B&Q and he's just text me to say that none of the items are in stock, even though it's letting you reserve them online. He even told me that some of the Gelert lines on the website were never even stocked at that store, again, in contradiction to the website telling you they are. B&Q are getting REALLY bad for this.

eklynne, you don't happen to be talking bout East Kilbride do you, just wondered with your user name? That's where I've reserved for but it will save me a trip if they don't have?
  • I went to the store and hunted around on the shelves where they had origanally been, and found everything I wanted in the stuff that had fallen down the back of the shelves. Ok I looked a bit stupid crawling on my hands and knees with just my feet sticking out, but I found 3 cans of gas, three mats, one wind break, lots of sleeping bags, a shower, a cook set and I also bought a tent. That was in Gillingham, but I think I cleaned them out :) Btw my other half was working in Basingstoke and I sent him to find the stove. He said they were still marked at full price and there were about 5 there. He still paid a fiver, so bargains still to be had, thanks OP

Aye, don't feel bad OP. I ordered 23 items and got about 14 of them so I'm still very pleased. Now just need to find the gas and the stove on offer somewhere as I had 2 stoves and 8 gas reserved but they cancelled those.
I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.
