Warning to Vodafone and Sony Ericsson K700i owners!
Well I had a bit of a crisis the other day due to me not being able to recieve sms messeges for about 4-5 days and shortly after finding out people were trying to contact me I got straight onto vodafone and made an enquiry as to what was wrong. I was then informed that there is an ongoing problem with Sony Ericsson and Voda' since december and it was causing lots of people with to have problems, recieving, sending sms and calls (many of which probably dont even know).
When I asked "Well..what on eath are you doing to fix the situation?!!" they just told me to check back later! I got a bit angry at this attitude and told them I use my phone for business as well as social purposes and asked why should I pay my line rental if I wasnt recieving full services!!
She then advised me to go into a local Vodaphone store where they would exchange my phone to a Nokia 6230 - a DOWNGRADE from the K700i might I add. I plan to visit the Voda store in my town tomorrow and I dont plan on settling for that phone.
Anyway I just thought you guys should know, its a pretty bad problem and if you guys want to ring up and find out more just ring voda with this issue.
Good luck
Rob

The software on the phone was faulty and, even though O2 did know about the problem, they kept selling the phones.0 -
My neice wants this phone for her birthday, it's on orange to buy but she wants to get it unlocked to use her o2 sim card, will this be ok or will there be problems with it on o2 still?
Need to get it ordered today so help much appreciated, thanks! If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0 -
I too, am very angry with Vodafone at the mo - this was due to the fact that the phone is not what it is meant to be with real tones etc....
now to top it all I am now having problems with the SMS messages as well.... I am not getting my voicemail messages for days, and the messages are sometimes delayed for 4 - 5 days as well.... very annoying... I shall be ringing them up again, complaining for the umteenth time about this phone !!!!
Will let you know how I get on.
UPDATE:
Have now rang them, and bawled at them... and they have agreed to change my phone to the Nokia 6230, which ok is not my ideal choice, but it does the same things as the Sony Erricsson K700i, and to be honest I would rather have a phone that is a bit naff looking but works properly than a phone that looks good on the outside and is rubbish in the middle if you know what I mean..... certainly will be thinking of leaving Vodafone when my contract is up for renewal tho......** Getting back in the swing of saving again.... **

Trying to find the best deals to save as much as we can..........0 -

there is a solution out now i believe which requires your phone to be reflashed with sim free s/w
if you need it doing i can give you contact details of a few people who can sort it for you0 -
i'm on o2, and i have no problem when using it with the o2 sim, but when i put in a different sim, i cannot send sms, only mms. Anyone know what's wrong?
the phone is not locked, but i think the software is o2'sLife should not be taken seriously, as no one would get out alive0 -
Just a quick update, Went into my nearest Vodafone outlet yesterday and boy, did they give me a hard time. First off they tried to deny the problem even existed, then after much insisting they finally got off there !!!!!! and looked it up on the 'problem database' they then insisted it WASNT the phone's fault but a temporary network problem because I wasnt turning my phone off enough (I turn it off every evening) after explaining that this was not the fault they then started to get really arsey with me. they downright refused to give me a phone replacement and I finally persueded them to send my phone off to get the firmware updated.
Im getting so sick of Vodadfones attitude lately. Once you are a customer they just dont seem to give a crap about you and dont look after you at all! I've been fobbed off so many times with them now im disgusted, and to top it all off I now have another issue to deal with - I have been signed up on a 18 moth contract and not 12 as I was told!!! - I was planning on leaving earlier but they wanted to charge me £100!
Stay away from vodafone - they may be cheaper in some repects but in all the years i've been with them there customer service is the worst!0 -
Its true about the Sony Ecrisson 770i and o2, you can’t receive text messages and sometimes the ones you send don’t get received either. My friend had one and has just got it sorted out.
She rang o2 and they admitted there was a problem and that the only thing they could do was give her a different phone (not SE 700i) but a downgrade to something else. She said she didn’t want this because she was paying £20 a month and this was not the phone for this deal, she could get it cheaper etc. They told her she could only have x y and z phones and that she should check their website to match them with her chosen tariff. She looked and found no suitable phones, none of them matched the spec of the se 700i, so she rang them up again and had a rant at them about how she would be paying more for a phone she could get with o2 cheaper anyway. She said she wanted the Nokia 7610 as this was the most suitable match. They said no way and that she would have to pay extra for that, then she complained about them breaking the contract terms and they said because of the problem they had an agreement with trading standards about it. So she phoned trading standards and they said this wasn’t the case and advised her to write a letter to o2 explaining all this and asking for a matching phone (nokia 7610) to what she was paying for.
Well after a big fuss o2 finally gave in and she is a happy owner of the nokia 7610 on the same contract as is able to send and receive messages willy nilly.
So my advise to you all is stand your ground (if you can, because it does take a while) and hold out for what you want, after all it is o2/vodafones fault and this is a disservice, they should fully compensate you or at least supply you with the same service as what you signed up for and are paying for!!
Good LuckTrevor McDoughnut, tonight at 100 -
Thanks jellyhead, hopefully it wont come to that and the firmware update will work, but if not I'll follow by your freind's example0
