Was in my last job for 8 years and 6 of those i hate with a passion but that was because of management knowing their !!! from their elbow, but i just took a deep breath and sucked it up. I was just there for the money.0

You sound like you feel your out of your depth, maybe also suffer from low self esteem, sound like a bit of a perfectionist i.e. want to solve evryones problems.
Get things into perspective, it's a job, you get paid, nobody is bullying you or disciplining you for poor peformance. Just accept that it's not perfect but it pays the bills. You could be flipping burgers working down a sewer so it could be a lot worse. No reason not to keep looking for something better though, stick this out till you can move to something better. In the mean time see the doctor, anti-depresents will probably help.0 -
It's very tricky to get across how you feel on a forum so perhaps the depth of how you feel about your job isn't coming across in a way you can explain it on here. If you hate it that much, there are a number of things you can do though possibly in your case the most positive things you can do are to look for other jobs and visit your doctor.
Everyone goes through ups and downs in their lives, and perhaps this is yours but you'll feel so much better once you've started to address it.
Take care.0 -
OP, I empathise with you as I am in job I hate, I've been looking for something else with no luck, I am stuck as I have a mortgage to pay and cannot afford not to have a job. My manager just doesn't care as he is unavailable all the time, if I am lucky to catch him for 5 min a week is good. 2 members of my team are constantly sick, leaving the other 3 to cover,I end up working 65 h weeks, 12 h shifts, and every weekend and I have no family life. Soo dreading coming to work every day... I would stick to it for now but keep looking for another one.. Good luck xx0

I started a new job in march and probation is up at the end of the month. I don't like my job either. I have no desk and feel like a spare part. If I am honest I am not very good at my job either. I have at times been so close to handing in my notice but I have nothing to go to.Lucylema x :j0

just keep at it and keep on looking for a new job, i was in similar position as yourself, had a job i hated but stuck with it.0 -
If you try to continue to a job you passionately hate, it will not do good either to the company or to yourself. It's unproductive to both of you, the company and on you. Also, it will not help sharpen your skills. It's better you will resign and find a job you love to work with.0

I just want send my sympathy. I have been in a job I hate for over a year and would leave if i had the choice. I work in a call centre. Very little training, have to lie to customers. No sympathy when customers are abusive. I was a SAHM for many years before this and never knew the working world could be so harsh.
My husband says ALL jobs are like this and I need to get on with it and is constantly pushing me to take on more hours. I am so very sad that i will need to spend the next 35 years + doing something I hate. if it was not for my family I would end it all.
I only work 15 hours a week but my whole life is affected. I spend all my time job hunting and fretting about when i am next at work. When i complain to management I am just told "I am doing very well" and "thats just how we do things" thats it.0 -
OP, your job doesn't sound so bad, in fact many people would be glad to be left to it without their managers breathing down their necks. As for how you can make it better, well the commute is just there - lots of people have long commutes and there's nothing to be done about it except find a job closer to home. However, since you're left in the office alone a lot could you work from home? I'm also usually alone in the office and am allowed to work from home a couple of days a week, I simply switch the phone system to redirect all calls to my house phone.
Not listening to a radio at work is normal and I can understand why they wouldn't like you to do it, there are issues with the PRS and licensing too. Could you work out something so that the radio mutes itself when the phone rings - if it goes through a computer this should be possible.
As for the software and support do you have a bug tracking system in place? If you do, is it properly updated? Can you tell in which release they plan to fix the bug? Also, can you log a workaround for the bug? Or change the priority? Quite often what seems to be a minor problem for devs is a showstopper for the users. If you don't have this sort of system in place I'd be asking for it, and offering to set it up, at least then you can tell customers when they can expect a fix and what to do in the mean time to work around it.
Not knowing everything - you don't need to. What you need to know is where to find the answer so keep a folder of bookmarks for sites that have been helpful to you. As you gain experience you will know more and more off the top of your head.
On the face of it there's not a lot you can do about customers' attitude but I've found that if you're friendly, helpful and positive most people will come round during the call. If you don't immediately know the answer then offer to call back.
Do you think this company is on the way up? If so, being the first person in there puts you in a great position as the office expands, especially as the manager seems to rate you, and you may find the working alone problem is solved for you.
If you really think that you can't make this job work for you I'd start looking for another job, you know how long it took last time so if it's at all possible suck it up and hang in there until you find a new job to go to.Whatever0 -
I've just read the OP. I would quit - no job is worth that.
After all, you only get one life and it's pretty damned short too.......we are all a long time dead, so we should enjoy life as much as possible whilst we are here. As a job is a big part of most people's lives it makes sense that you shouldn't do one that you hate.
As for JSA. Why can't you get that?0
