Daily Thread Thursday 28th July 2011

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread forThursday 28th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning!

Off to work soon but thought I'd pop on here first. Nice morning here so washing my bedding and hoping to get it on the line before I leave.
Burgers for tea, need to get some rolls out of the freezer.

Hope you all have a lovely day

Take care all x

Morning Tappers & all who cross & follow
Thick cloud here again today, same as every other day this week, still it's not cold. Today I shall strip the bed & wash the bedding, sort out the floordrobe & sweep upstairs. I shall start a charity shop bag too, though TBH, most of the stuff I get rid of is too old & worn to be of any use to anyone.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning folks.
Thanks for starting the thread Tappers.

Sistercas - What dreadful, upsetting news. His poor, poor family. Hugs to you and your DD x

Well, we celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary in style. We went to Marks 'n Sparks!!! I had found 3 gift cards in the cupboard. One had nothing on, but the other two had £25 each - so had a little splurge with minimal amount coming out of my purse :)

Dinner today will be broccoli cheese. Nice and easy.

Not got any plans for today. Maybe I'll manage a bit of decluttering :)
Happy Thursday folks, hugs Silver x

    Morning all

Bit grey here, still can't get my laptop back to normal after little cat sat on it!

SISTERCAS terrible news, my thoughts go out to all.
    SILVERMAID Happy anniversary for yesterday.

Have got the giant dog here today so I'll take him out for a walk in a mo. I have a job interview this morning for a nursing home job. Don't know if it's suitable or not but I'll go and have a look. I need to think very carefully about my pension and also holidays. Last job I was offered in the private sector the holidays were terrible. Not so worried about my pension as at least I can put money away in an ISA.

Plan today to do not a lot, feeling very lazy at the mo. Not sure about tea, really must get my backside in gear and do a menu plan.

Have a good day all and big hugs to anyone who needs one.

Supposed to be a warm one here today :D Sun showing some signs of promise so far :)
Not much planned for today, keeping kids entertained, going to soft play and trying to get our bedroom dusted.
Not sure what's for tea tonight, haven't checked the planner.
Finished off my very first high viz vest for the kids yesterday (pics on homepage if you want to be nosy) so got another 2/3 to make! Why oh why do I do these things :rotfl: DS also wants a superhero cape for his teddy bear :rotfl:

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not.

Bitsy - Your hi-viz jacket looks great. I'm well impressed. I have not heard of the wool that you're knitting with but it looks very interesting :)

    Morning everyone

Overcast here this morning, hopefully the sun will get out later. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock, he's got a stinking cold so he's dosed up, and grumpy with "man flu" - I'm afraid I'm not very sympathetic, I was quite poorly 2 weeks ago and was still working and doing all the normal chores, when I visited the drs (the 2nd time in 2 days coz I felt so poorly), she examined me and sorted the problem, then said in her opinion I'd had an episode of toxic shock syndrome - we were booked to go away and he said we couldn't cancel and I had to go. He does work hard and maybe I'm too cynical but he doesn't have to do "anything" at home except cut the grass in the summer, and painting and decorating if needed, I do everything else - I feel sometimes like I have **** tattooed on my forehead and he's getting the best deal.:o

    Sorry rant over.

Dinner last night was pork chops, roasties, veg and gravy, cake for dessert. Tonight I have a meeting at work at 5pm so will put a casserole in the oven before I go, then serve it up when I get back. DS2 has summer school again today - he's really enjoying it and seems to be getting a lot out of going. Need to get some more potatoes and bread today - will pick that up on way back from taking DS2.

Need to get motivated today, but feel in a real cba mood as seem to work hard continously and nothing seems to improve!! I know there's lots of people in worse situations than me and I should be grateful for what I have. Sorry for a moaning post so early in the day.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning All

Bitsy you are clever the jacket looks great :j
Shopping day today need to go to chemist, building society, Aldi and wilko's DH is meeting me from Aldi at 1pm - It isn't too easy doing a weekly shop with a mobility scooter, so I will do all the little bits first and we will do Aldi together.
So I am leaving here at 9am because it takes ¾ hour to get to town on my scooter (It only goes 4 miles an hour - one of the small ones that folds up and goes in the car)

Then this afternoon I am planning on getting a bit more knitting knit.gifdone, I have a few more pressies to do before Christmas gets here.
I really must check up on the pressies I have so far and list them - I have most off DD's, half of DS's, DH wants a kindle 3G, which I will order next month when I have saved enough for it, and the inlaws want the kings speech dvd ( I will get them a little surprise each as well). I am half way through knitting DS's BF's scarf and have got him a few geeky bits as well. I then want to get Best friend a little something and for our God daughter then apart from getting a couple of bottles of vino for the neighbours I am done :D I even have most of the meat, prawns, sausage rolls etc. It is mainly so that I know when the huge gas and leccy bills come in I am not having to worry about getting things for Christmas.

Well I am off to get a load of washing on the line and another lot in before I go.

    have good days all x
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

    Morning all

It's a bit showery here this morning which is pants as work kids need to finish painting at the school, and then I had promised to take them to the beach. Hopefully it will improve by lunchtime.

I really need to do some more packing related stuff tonight, and some small bits of DIY. Just hope I have some energy later, I'm exhausted now despite sleeping for 8hours :(

    Have a good day all
