    I like your style FireWyrm;)

Winchelsea - don't talk to me about fabric. I'd be better off not going to the show as I'd be bound to buy something as sure as eggs is eggs!

Well done rictus - you really are doing brilliantly!
  • I've been doing fine with this except... for cans of cider. So now I've joined the AFD thread and hopefully the no-spend thing will follow!

My top tip - when you're out, take sandwiches, when you're in, check how much lovely stuff you've already got in the cupboards and the freezer. Mmm!
    challenges : AFD : SNC :
    Ebay/ Amazon : £29 + £6 +

Well another day.....another no spends day!! Get in. More than half a tank of fuel in my van so wont need filled for at least another week....£70 will go close to seeing out the month. Got another couple of homers on in the near future, maybe not till next month but still gives me more income + working more helps spend less believe it or not!!
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

    Hi Firewyrm

I learnt to crochet last year - not done anything fancier than hats and scarves and a string dog bed! yet, but I'm enjoying it. My main hobby is millinery in the crafty department - now that is expensive, finding cheap second hand blocks is hard work. We usually go to the Harrogate stitch & knit fair in November ( and combine it with a trip to Bettys tea rooms - so not a debt free moment).

Rictus - you are a hero, can't believe how well you are doing.

Later I'll be checking the food stores. I haven't bought food mid-week which normaly I would do and I'm pretty sure that I've got most stuff in, I think I'll just have to top up with some fresh stuff either tonight or tomorrow.

Good luck everyone. Even though I've deviated on two nights out which I knew about before the beginning of the month, my spend is way down so far.

One of the things I picked up from the show last year was a set of giant knitting needles and a 32mm crochet hook for making rugs with 12-20 strands at a time. I was facinated by the idea of using all the normal stitches but to make something chunky instead. I've been crocheting for several years and I find it oddly hypnotic. I'm a developer by trade, so the idea of not looking at a computer screen in the evenings is oddly appealing. I suppose I could get rid of some of my stash which is grown to alarming proportions in order to raise some money, but I get very attached to my speciality yarns and cant bear to part with them. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with 7 skeins of bright pink pure aran weight silk, but I'll think of something I'm sure. The last time I went to the NEC, I had a budget, but somehow the credit card just lept into my hand at just the wrong moment and I accidentally purchased yet more yarn. That's what I told DH anyway...he didnt seem to believe me...I'm not sure why.....:rotfl:

Hello bugslet and FireWyrm (and everyone else!),

I'm not a crocheter, but do quilting and knitting. The plan at the NEC tomorrow is just to go in search of inspiration, with camera and notebook. I DO NOT NEED FABRIC OR WOOL!

I shall take a packed lunch etc, and a big flask of coffee, and NO money. (Well, I will have a note tucked away for emergencies - but seeing delectable bargains doesn't count!). Wish me luck!

Today so far is a no spend, but may go to our craft group with DD tonight, and it's £3 sub each time.

Have a good no-spend weekend everyone!
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!
