Thanks for the advice - I think hot water is the way to go with some gentle persuasion!

    Cheers!!

a few tips, try to remove as much of the wax as poss first. and make sure you use a old bowl or bucket for the water, as last time i removed wax from candle sticks i manageges to coat a stainless steel sink in a fine layer of wax that took forever to remove.

I have great trouble with formatting if I try to post from work but here goes anyway.A tip I read on this forum some time ago really works well. Place the candle holders in the freezer and leave until wax is solid. It then just pops out, a wash in warm soapy water and they should come up fine. Best wishesGB
  • I would pop the candle holder in the freezer, leave until the wax is solid, then it should just lift clean out.

Edit: sorry gb didn't mean to repeat what you had just said.

I think I may tell her to try one in the freezer and one in hot water to see which works best. Once done, I'll post again to let you know the results!

Thanks very much for all your suggestions.

To make this a true scientific experiment, please note the temps and exact time for each remedy:rotfl:

Yes, perhaps I should have mentioned not to plunge a freezer cooled glass holder into hot soapy water!!

I usually put the holders in freezer for an hour or two but on one occasion left for about a week!

If you are going to use the hot water method it's probable not a good idea to tip the waxy water down the sink, the wax may set in the pipes and cause a blockage.

I usually just bung mine in the oven for a couple of mins- place on a paper towel on a baking tray- then give a wash in soapy water if they need it :)
