Happy New Year to everyone:j
Can anyone tell me how to remove candle wax from candle burners? I would like to re-use the little ceramic pots that I had candles in as I am going to make some gel air fresheners and they are perfect little pots. I just don't know the best way to clean the old candle wax out.

I clean the candle wax out of my votive holders with just very hot water and washing up liquid. HTHSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0

I'll second stressedoutmumof1.
It's simple but it works really effectively. Also gets rid of any soot."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
I third stressedoutmumof1 & peem, but I wouldn't wash it down the sink 'cos it could plug it up when it congeals again. Better to flush it down the loo.0

I wouldnt flush it down the loo but discard it in the bin! You are only going to block up the loo!0

heat it up and drip it into an old can and throw away. As the others have said, don't let it near your drains!0

Brilliant thanks everyone!!!My mantra is "Never pay full price!"0

I'd like to add a tip for getting rid of wax off metal type candle sticks. I used my little kitchen blowtorch to melt the wax and wiped it off with a cloth.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Hi everyone
I'm not sure if this is the correct thread to post this on but a friend of mine recently got married and used glass candle holders (with candles inside) as her table centrepieces. She'd like to sell the candle holders on Ebay but says that the melted wax is stuck on the glass and its really difficult to remove.
Does anyone have any ideas or tips to remove wax from glass? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would try soaking in hot water and some washing up liquid.
But, if there is a lot of wax, I would scrape as much off as possible first, using either something plastic or wooden so as not to scratch the glass.
Good luck.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Put into a washing up bowl and pour over not-quite-boiling water. The wax will melt into the water. Remove the candlesticks before the water goes cold ( or the wax will start clinging again) and give them a polish on a soft cloth.
