Thanks Imp!
The box of chocs is still intact.... friend's birthday is 23 Dec and I'm pretty much decided to give them to her. It's nice to have such a luxurious dilemma!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Eat the chocolates!!!!!!!!!
Good news about OH pay - sounds like things are going to work out for you, and must certainly take the pressure of you personally at last!

Hypno! She's decided! Naughty hypno!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Thats so funny, we're usually all of one voice, do what you feel is right, blah blah, and there's hypno's voice, nOOOOOOOO, don't give them away and save money, EAT them!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I love it!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I am beginning to trust that he knows what he's talking about when he explains the university's pay system. I assumed he was living in some kind of cloud cuckoo land denial but it seems they pay a weird mix of arrears and current month.
You're beginning to think your OH knows what he's talking about?! Quick! See a doctor!
You'll be thinking he's right next...dealing with the news that one of his brothers is terminally ill (aged 55)
That's sad - that's awfully young.and another is about to become a father again (aged 59).
So there's hope for you yet. Haven't had headaches or something..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

For the first and only time, please ignore hypno's advice and don't eat the chocs!
Friends are precious and you told us that you usually give her a Waterstone's voucher and she doesn't even like reading much:rotfl: . Surprise her this year(at no expense to yourself:j )
Easy for me to advise as I must be one of the few women in UK who doesn't like chocolate:rotfl: . Now, offer me a big bag of Walker's salt and vinegar crisps and I'm in heaven!0 -
well done about OH wages.Especially if it helps out with the tax man too. Do you know if he will be back at the college for the next term?
Ref the chocolates. I would give them away too. But then I don't really like dark chocolate, unless it is a terry's dark orange of course. The IT'S MINE!

What a lovely day! I received a mystery Christmas present in the post, beautifully wrapped, with instructions to open on Christmas morning. I don't think anything so exciting has ever happened to me before!
I have a hunch that it is from one of our lovely DFW friends, who appears to be spreading joy and goodwill through the post despite her busy life and financial pressures. I can't wait to open it.
The DDs have broken up today, we're going to a panto this evening (paid for by my mum), OH has hoovered the stairs, and all in all I am feeling full of seasonal jollity. Just have to do a load of admin connected with one of my freelance jobs and then I can really relax.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
I got paid for some work today, much earlier than I expected - I only sent the invoice on Thursday! So I have a cheque for £1225 which I wasn't expecting to receive til late January. I've decided to put it into my ISA to give my embryonic tax savings a kickstart. I might have to dip into it in Feb but really hope we can stretch what we have til OH gets paid in Feb, which should be a nice large amount.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

That's a great surprise before Christmas - and brilliant that it's a big start for the tax savings too
How's everything going? Did you enjoy the panto?
