Need to start on my accounts too further complication this year because of Mystery Shopping. Don't think it will be this week though need to get a newsletter designed and printed after my trip to Uganda but tricky as I lost all my photos due to a virus on a card I borrowed out there so will have to look at previous photos to see what I can use.

Good luck with the new jobs.

Hi DT! What a shame about the photos. How was the trip?

I'm making great progress on my accounts. Have sorted my receipts into piles for each month, now have to go through weeding out duplicates and working out which are claimable.

Well done! I hate the tax accounts too. Every year I promise myself I won't leave it until the last moment and every year........I do.

I've just given myself a big shock. I've added up my takings and learned that my GROSS earnings last year were £17,439.30. That's before deducting expenses. I knew it was less than the previous year but didn't realise it was 12k less.

No wonder things have been so tight. I really need a smarter bookkeeping system that makes it harder to ignore this kind of thing. What a moron I am.

Looking on the bright side, my Jan 2010 tax bill should be small, and I may be entitled to some retrospective tax credits.

Thats a huge drop! I bet you have some refunding to come from the tax office - when my income was dropping by about £2k, I had loads of money come back from them. Bummer of a reason tho .... :(

I've just walked DS to school for the last time:( and am sitting down for a day of number crunching and admin. I hope to work out my final figures for my tax return - I will get an accountant to look over it and check everything's correct but I'd like to know at least provisionally what my tax liability is. Karmacat, I'm sure I won't get anything back.
