    so keep the other end in the DVDR RF In?

    At the moment you told me you have this.

    Digital aerial from wall to DVDR RF IN
    DVDR RF out to TV

    Is this correct?

    What I now want you to try is this;

    Digital aerial from wall to TV (forget the DVDR for the moment)
    Then run set up on your TV to see if it finds channels.

    Yep that's it. The run set up on the TV.

    Ok. Doing that now. I feel such a prat not knowing all of this. Hubby has taken kids out and I'm sure expects me to have this up and running when he comes home...have been trying to fathom this out since 6-30pm last night!! Will let you know what happens after doing what you've said. Thanks.

    No need to feel daft - I'm sure you're learning fast.

    Its not working - no digital programme. The thing is, hubby reckons it was working before we had sky installed a week or so after we moved in (and I do believe I managed to get UKTV style and things via my tv before sky using the TV remote). I give up. I might pm you later if you don't mind. I will go back to being able to watch in glorious colour (thanks for that - you have been really helpful), and being able to pause live tv and watch dvds...just not record yet! I think its the way the tv is set up personally. All this techie stuff really confuses me. Anyway - thanks again. See if I can put my feet up for half an hour before they come back! Cheers. Hope you don't mind if I pm you later and pick your brains?

    from the sound of it you need to check whether the loft aerial is connected to the plate on the wall that you're running the coaxial cable from. The fact that you can't get any channels from either the TV or the DVDR suggest that's where the problem lies.

    At the moment you can record from the Sky box onto the DVDR by using the Line 3 input but obviously it will give more scope if you can also use the DVDR's tuner too.

    Feel free to pm. I may not get back right away as I'm going out for a bit now.
