Deposited cash into Lloyds TSB account via Post Office - very worried, please help!!

Hello everyone, I'm new here and have just registered in hope of fiinding somone who could help me with my query.
Two days ago I paid in £200 at the post office with my paying in booklet to be deposited into my Lloyds TSB account.
There has been no sign whatsoever regarding that money going into my account! I've been checking my balance endless times and still hasn't shown up!
I've heard it can take 48 hours (it's been about 33), however, surely the money would be shown as credited to the account immediately but then be made "available" 48 hours later? Seriously worried and confused!
Anyone with any experience on this matter?
Thanks in advance!

When I pay into my co-op account at the PO I use my debit card, and it's credited instantly with the exact time paid in on my statement.0

What time did you deposit the cash? If it was before ~3.30pm it would have gone away with all the daily paperwork and arrive at the processing centre the next day.
If it was after 3.30pm then it wouldn't be dispatched til the next day. I'm not sure how long these things usually take once they reach the centre, so it's probably too early to start worrying.
It's annoying that Lloyds TSB still use the giro deposit slips at the Post Office - as samwsmith1 says, paying in with The Co-Operative at the Post Office is much easier and quicker.

I thought to pay in with all banks (other than cheques) you just used your debit card so it's done instantly?
Edit: Turns out I was mistaken!

Thanks alot for your reply
I see, I deposited it at about 4:30 pm, so it was definitely after 3:30pm!
This is going to sound stupid and it's entirely my own fault, but I lost my receipt of the deposit! However, I have my paying in book which got stamped by them. Would this act as sufficient proof if something went wrong?0 -
Yes it would suffice.0

Well I'm really frustrated now. Despite the worker at the post office telling me it takes up to 48 hours for the money to be deposited into my bank account, I just phoned Lloyds TSB and they said it can take up to 5 working days. I explained to them that's not what I was told at the Post Office, and he said something along the lines of "yeah well, they just say that".
Lloyds TSB have told me I need to go to the P.O, present them with my stamped paying in book, and in turn they will give me a receipt, for which I need to have to provide Lloyds 5 working days after the 25/7.
Lloyds told me to ring them again in 5 working days if it hasn't been paid in.
Absolute rubbish service.
I'm hoping I will get my 200 pounds back.0 -

Sorry you've had rubbish service - it does take up to 5 days, but some of my colleagues probably wouldn't know that. It's a rarely used service I'm afraid, so a few of counter staff won't know much more than that they can take in a giro deposit for Lloyds TSB and the money will go in at some point in the future.
As for getting a new printed receipt from the Post Office... good luck with that one. As far as I know it's not possible for a duplicate receipt to be printed for this transaction, especially if you don't have the transaction ID, which is printed on the receipt you lost
But having said that, your money will be in your account soon.0 -
I used the Post Office service to pay cash into my LloydsTSB account.
It took 5 working days to arrive... :silenced:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Looks like they ought to revisit their T&Cs?...7.2(d) Paid in at a Post Office®: we will show the cash in your account and it will earn any interest (or reduce the interest you pay) from that day. We will allow you to use it as soon as we receive it. We receive cash one working day after you paid it in at the Post Office®. So, for example if you pay cash into a Post Office® on a Monday, you will be able to use it as soon as we have received it on the Tuesday.
