Alice woke at three and never went back to sleep except for a few minutes at six when she fell asleep on me and then I moved. Since her feed at seven she's alternated between crying and sleeping and seems to be mostly sleeping as she's so exhausted. We took her to the doctor who said she hasn't got a chest infection and that it might help to give calpol at bedtime and in the night.0

Hi Susan - have you tried Alice with Medised yet ? http://www.medised.co.uk/ It might help knock her out enough to ignore the cough?
I've been rubbing snufflebabe on DS chest before bed, as well as giving him a full baby massage with sunflower oil and some lavender - just to make sure he's really relaxed...lol.
Here is a link to what essential oils you can use in pregnancy and with babies: http://www.aromacaring.co.uk/essential_oils_and_pregnancy.htm You can't use eucalyptus on babies, but you can diffuse it in the air.
I hope Alice feels better soon - DS cold seems to have gone on for ages now - we had a home visit from GP over a week ago!The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
JS and Susan, I give Jack a lavendar foot massage every night before bed, i don't know if it helps, but it can't hurt.
Like Becles said, its all between balancing things out, by 1 yr you are aiming for them to be eating the same meals as you, so I personally don't see the point of going out and buying No salt gravy etc from the healthfood shop and cooking seperate meals. I'd rather buy the reduced salt gravy from tesco, which is the same price and we all eat that. We all have enough to do in our lives than create extra work.
I gave Jack medised again last night and even though he did cough now and again, he slept around till 6.30am and didn't whimper to get up until 6.50am. I said to DH you copped a good morning today. Hope he does that again tomorrow when its my turn. Although I suspect its the medised doing it, it will be interesting to see if he continues when we stop giving it.
With the exception of Alice who we know didn't sleep well, did everyone else do ok? Susan, can you get a snoozy today? Its horrid being up half the night and then having to go all day too.

Hi hope you don't mind me joining in. I had an awful night night on sunday with Lyla (18mths) she has a terrible cough, and after thinking medised was simply a drug to keep babies asleep i bought some on the advice of my friend and haven't looked back she is sleeping like a dream and i have't heard her cough as much. my only worry is weaning myself errr i mean her off it!!!I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

Welcome pukkamum!
Must be something in the air as Imogen was awake hysterical at 10.45pm last night and then again at 5.15am. I went to her the first time and couldn't find anything wrong. She's not got a cold or anything. Perhaps it was just a bad dream (I get really vivid dreams). She was just moaning this morning so we left her, but it was enough to wake us up and we'd both got to be up for work at 6am. They know how to pick their days don't they?
If anyone lives near Castleford the Clarks shop at the J32 outlet has a fab sale on. We got Imogen some more shoes (she's gone up a size in 4 weeks) for £4.50 reduced from about £25. They're crawlers and she loves them! Go in the week or the morning though as it's getting really busy with Xmas shoppers. Lol@ pukkamum
I have to wonder how on earth our parents coped when we were tiny, as there must have been so few options for them? Having said that, Dad has admitted that some alcohol was in my bottle more than once...rofl.
Lu T we are still using elasticated leather pull ons for DS - I am not sure when we should get him measured etc? He is still crawling or cruising furniture. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
JS, I read this "Lu T we are still using elasticated leather pull ons for DS " 3 times with bewilderment until I realised you were referring to shoes and not nappies!!!

I did that too!!
You can get 'crawlers' which are soft-ish shoes but have some rubber bits on the sole, heel and toes. They only really need proper shoes when walking on their own. 20 steps unaided is apparently the point at which they need 'proper' shoes. We wouldn't have her in any at all if they weren't so cheap! I've bought a pair of pretty pink leather pram shoes from Sainsburys. I'd been looking at them on the net for £15 and found some lovely ones for £4.50. They're going in her stocking.
You also need them measuring every 6 weeks. Imogen's gone from a 3 to a 3.5 in about 4 weeks  Heaven forbid we have to pay full price for shoes for her at any point. They did have some beautiful burgundy patent Mary Janes which I was tempted to buy but they were for walking in and a size too big, so I resisted, even though she will grow into them...MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -

OH looked after Alice from 8-9.30 while I slept before we took her to Doctors. He's taken the day (well afternoon/evening) off work and slept this afternoon while Alice slept on my knee/fed/cried/watched Bagpuss. I've just sent him to the pharmacy to get some Medised. (He's actually been so quick that he's already been and come back with it!) I'm going to go to bed when Alice does at seven (well I'll have dinner first) and OH will deal with Alice at least till after the ten o'clock feed so we should both be caught up with our sleep.0
