I pay my FD card through online banking as I don't trust DDs for things like this either.

Minimum DD anything extra with cheque.
  • DD for minimum, internet banking one off payments above that.

I cannot remember to eat dinner sometimes so God knows what my credit score would be if it weren't for direct debit!

I have two main CC the Halifax Clarity I pay off just before they Issue the bill, and after I have spent just over 300 to get the 5 pound rebate. A direct debit would pay the minimum If I did nothing.

I then switch to Egg Money to build up 1% rebate on purchases. I switch back to the Halifax Clarity once a new statement period begins.
All would be paid off by direct debit but I pay this off before it is a number on a bill.

I pay by direct debit for all my credit cards, as the money would then only come out of my account on the due day. whereas if i paid by debit card, i will need to make the payment 3-4days in advance, as that's what they say it takes to reach the credit card account.

I have DDs for the min payment on each of my cards, then make one offs online or over the phone. its a very good idea to get a DD for the minumum as on some cards it takes a few days for the payment to get through, so even if you pay it before its due sometimes it doesnt count as paid (happened to me on my first card) and then you get the default charge and blip on your credit report so its really not worth the hassle of all that! sometimes the payment date varies too so without the DD you could end up missing a payment when genuinely thinking it wasnt due yet.
