Bath or no bath

  • Shower only would be fine with me too. You can redesign your bathroom in such a way that it's easy to put a bath back in there if/when you come to sell it.

Is it a one bedroom flat?
Are you planning on selling it?

If it's ever going to have a child stay in it (ie: it's a family place) then keep the bath.

If you're going to live there for 10 years then get rid.

Always easier shaving your legs in a bath - for us gals! And for rinsing off hair dye, etc. Easier to lean over a bath and have it drip in one area. Not sure I'd want it splattered from a shower you have to stand in. Not saying my blondeness is out of a bottle btw lol!

I alternate between showers and baths and would never buy somewhere without a bath, or where one couldn't be fitted back in without too much effort.

Agree that it's never ideal for families with young kids either, nor if you're not planning on staying there long term.

I'm in a similar but reversed position. I've bought a house that only has a bath! Urgh. I cant understand how you can live without a shower. I'm only going to have to put one in now.

I do think a bath will make it easier to sell when u do want to.., but if u are planning to live there for years.., take the bath out as its not worth the irritation factor. However be prepared to put a bath back in when u come to sell if u thinks that's needed at the time. As has been said, if its a place that's ideal for a single person, there may be no need. Also remember that it is possible to put a small bath in.

    I wouldn't buy a house that didn't have a bath tub.

You're affecting the resale value of your property plus reducing the number of potential buyers. Any one with a younger family would more than likely walk away immediately.

Me too ....... 66% of people prefer baths :D

That's a very exact figure - what's the source of it?

Personally, I wouldn't buy a house which just had a shower - but I'm a bath lover. I have small bathroom with a shower fitted over the bath but hardly ever use it. You cannot drink a glass of wine while reading in the shower!

The question then is - what's the appeal of drinking and reading whilst soaking in your own dirty water, which will probably be going cold before you finish the glass of wine, ,or the book..........?

Speak for yourself. My bathwater isn't that dirty. We can't comment on how dirty yours is.

The lack of a bath will only affect the resale value if the property will potentially appeal to a young family, because children can't be bathed in a shower.
