Kidcat - liver from the chippie? never, ever seen that! What do they do with it (an is it a regional thing?). I ask in a professional capacity, of course!;)

It's a local thing I guess its called liver dinner and its chips, mushy peas, liver, onions and gravy. no idea how they cook it but I have never even come close.

Smileyt that made me laugh, hmm not sure if its romantic but very interesting :rotfl: There are maybe better ways of finding out if someone is into the same lifestyle as you :rotfl: We wait with bated breath for the next instalment... I think....
All quiet here, budget tea again and now am heading off for an early night, 'hey smiley you got any good books you can recommend for bedtime reading' :rotfl:

I'm guessing that's north somewhere (never seen anything called a 'dinner' in a chippie in the south), sounds interesting!

I will have to go to full on austerity, unmerciful old style with a vengence to top the pot back up.

See ya all on here more often I think, I generally do old style beacuse I like it but it is becoming more a necessity these days as everything is increasing in price while the household income is static.

I don't know how some poor folks are managing. Judging by what the govenor of the bank of England said the other day it doesn't look too optimistic for the near future either.

Dig out all my old recipes from the seventies I think, dratted economy.
That's the spirit Bluebag ... I'm sure the scrimping will pay off. At least I hope it will! *crosses fingers*

Grandma247 - thanks a mill for the link, it looks great. Will check it out properly later.

Smiley - thanks for caving in and sharing the story! :rotfl: And I'm so impressed how diplomatically you handled it, I would have been hard pressed to think what to say! Like the others I'm looking forward to the next installment ... I'm sure it won't be long till someone else hits on you while walking the dogs!

I've got candles lit and sending love and good thoughts to everyone. x
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

smileyt - you little stud muffin! :D

Well, I gave up my second job and today went and ordered a new sofa and carpet for the stairs!!! Not quite as extravagant as it sounds. The OH has agreed to buy the sofa for Chrimbo, bless him. However, the in laws announced they are paying for the stairs carpet and the OH has all suitable instructions. She doesnt like the fact that I still dont have a carpet and wanted to say thank you to me fighting for the bungalow for them.

I am one very lucky Red :D

Oh and then I made £205 on ebay today so is good too. At last, I feel that the corner has turned.

Oh and in relation to vet bills. I paid £300 with no invoice and no receipt (despite asking) for a sole cremation, over night in the vet on a drip and all the stuff that went in it, box with name on, the injection and possibly the rest of the surgeries bills too!!! Did I mention that was in 2005???? boy, did they see me coming or what. But they did give me FK when she was handed in to them as being a stray. They knew I had lost Orange and so thought of me with FK so it was worth it in a way.

Nuala thank you for the repair pot replenishment cheerleading.

redlady1 so pleased things are going in the right direction for you, so much doom about it's lovely to hear of someone doing well.

I always wondered why vets had such a good lifestyle. The bills! The bills!

Smileyt, maybe she saw you walking with the leash, but not the dog and got the wrong idea....

Even if we could afford a pet, or have one in our unit, not sure I could stand the worry and heartbreak (((hugs))) to all you pet lovers.

I get more nervous every time I hear the mention of Christmas, I've done nothing for it (other than the bits I bought in the sales last January - crackers and cards and wotnot), and for various reasons have no savings for it either. This month I have spent 3 weeks budget in the first 10 days (meds, went out for lunch, restocked pantry), and am about to have a very frugal rest of month, so no opportunity there to scrimp and save a little. I think this year I'll be making everything down to the last marshmallow. Now, if I could catch one of the wild turkeys....:rotfl:
