SDG3.......................Wow you must have one helluver understanding OH, im sure if it had been my husband he would have blown a gasket over lending money out to a person that you dont really know much.............Im glad he was sympathetic to you, the last thing you need right now is a arguement over finances.............Hope you get it back....bless you..xx

Thank you shegar. I know that DH drives me up the wall a lot of the time, but this isn't the sort of thing he would get angry about. If he had been home at the time then I'm sure he would have done the same or offered to take her shopping or something. It's not that £50 isn't a lot of money, but at the moment it won't hurt us if it doesn't come back. DH did an awful lot of overtime last month thank goodness. I'm just mad as it was money I had saved towards presents and I don't have a lot of personal money coming in. I know DH will give it me if I ask, but I don't want to ask. I tried to catch her this afternoon to ask for it back by Monday, but someone else fetched her sons from school.
Oh well, today has been ok. I managed to go shopping and only get the four things on my list. That doesn't normally happen to say the least :rotfl: The gate has another coat of stain and I'm sure the neighbours had a good laugh at me fighting with the plastic sheet to stop it blowing away.
I'm off to rescue my laundry, so will post more later. xxxx

SDG - You have been kind to this woman concerned. Ummm....when you say that "someone else fetched" her children on the occasion you were trying to "catch her"....I think you might have to be prepared for the fact that she may be deliberately avoiding you because she is anticipating this - so you might need to try a few times to "catch her".

Anyways - will keep my fingers crossed for you that all works out well and you get your money back okay.

I do understand where you are coming from re having helped out like this - as I've had to walk past someone twice in the last week who is using a manual wheelchair and its making my "blood boil" a bit that whoever-it-is in our "Welfare State" is leaving the poor guy to use this when he clearly needs one of those "automated" type ones (battery?). I'd have a job-and-a-half to remain anonymous if I ever come up on the Lottery - as I'd have to swear people like him to secrecy as I just walked up to a complete stranger like him and said "I DO hope you will take this the way its meant - but have a cheque to cover the cost of said 'automated' wheelchair. All I ask is that you dont tell anyone who gave the money to you ever."

So - I understand why you would be "kind" - even though I wouldnt have done that in those particular circumstances.

Fingers crossed for you for this sorting itself out.

Ceridwen that sounds really kind of you :A but you might want to find out if he actually wants a battery operated wheelchair first. I have 2 friends who much prefer manual wheelchairs to electric ones and I know enough people with varying disabilities to know that one can never make assumptions about their wants and/or needs based on the way they appear to the able bodied. It's impossible to know people's cicumstances just by looking at them so he may have a good reason to keep his current chair. He may be in receipt of full disability benefits too but simply chooses not to spend the money on upgrading his chair in which case it would be unfair to blame someone from the "welfare state" for not helping. One also has to be very careful not to offend people when offering them money (no matter how good your intentions) so that in itself can be a real minefield. :o I hope if you do win the lottery you are able to be as generous as you hope.:)

ETA Thanks for the twitter link Kittie.

I have made an appointment at the vet's for tomorrow morning. Hepzibah hen has gone downhill again. She only perks up a little if I give her painkiller, which indicates to me that the antibiotics have not worked. I am taking Morticia too.

A small part of me hopes that we will be coming home again tomorrow, but a larger part of me thinks that is a foolish hope.

I was holding it all together until my poor mum rang a few minutes ago. I'm afraid I will make such a fool of myself tomorrow in the surgery by howling my eyes out in front of the vet. :o I know that I am making the right decision if there is nothing more that can be done, but it doesn't make it any easier.

Oh Smiley, so sorry you have to face this. I would be howling too, and the vet will be used to it. Nothing to be ashamed of, loving your pets, I still grizzle when I think about our poor White Ratty, and she left us years ago.

  • Becky, Marks and Spencer are also recruiting temporary staff for the Christmas period.
Smiley ((hugs)) for you and your much loved hennies.
Kittie..OMG that sounds awful! Hope you can find a solution soon :(
Gone chilly tonight after all that Indian Summer - hopefully we'll sleep better anyway.
Went looking for bargains in M&S sale today. Came home with a £4 pair of hardly worn M&S winter shoes from a charity shop...result!
    Normal people worry me.

I am so sorry to hear your sad news - but please don't be worried about what the vet, veterinary assistants or other customers might think of you if you get upset - its almost impossible to find appropriate words of comfort at such a heartrending time . . . . but they and every loving pet owner will be all in heartfelt but silent sympathy with you.

Take care and God bless you x x

Thank you, Mrs Chip, Hobsons Choice and Charlie's Aunt. I know I'm doing the right thing but final goodbyes are so hard.

Mrs Chip, I had fancy rats a few years ago and I loved them to bits and bawled my eyes out when they died, too. They are characters, aren't they, and so affectionate? It's nice to 'meet' someone else who is a ratty lover! Mine used to get very excited when they saw me putting my pyjamas on, because they knew that they would get a bed-time chocolate drop immediately afterwards. :D
