If the soda don't work, try a dishwasher tablet, fill the pan with boiling water and add the tablet, leave overnight. If you have no dishwasher tabs or powder then use bio washing powder or gel.

ginnyknit I recommend using cheap cola to clean the pans. Bring it to the boil and then turn the heat off and leave it to soak for a while.
xxxx
Cola also useful to clean descale the loo - why do people want to drink it too :rotfl:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Had a quiet day after all the driving on Friday and Saturday. Just went over to the farm shop to get a nice piece of ham so we had ham, egg and chips for tea, yummy! Also made a good start on my last OU assignment, Have to start revising now for my first exam in 15 years!
Stll have bread to make and the ice cream to churn as well as pack lunch stuff for OH - seems weird having to think of that on a Sunday as he's had Sunday Monday as days off for about 2 years now and has just changed days off to Saturday, Sunday!0 -
Just got home from weekend away TOTALLY shattered.
Took DD to see last night of Much Ado About Nothing on Saturday - absolutely WONDERFUL, haven't laughed so much in ages. David Tennant was hilarious - his timing is absolutely spot-on. DD did MAAN at school last year and said why couldn't going to the theatre (just local, not west end) be part of the curriculum as, if she hadn't seen it staged, she would never have realised it could be so funny.
Stayed at brother's flat so that bit at least was OS! However, I give thanks that we normally have access to a car - got the bus to the theatre and ended up getting off and RUNNING down Shaftesbury Avenue and Charing Cross Road as we just sat in traffic. Admittedly, we might not have been any better off with a car on this occasion, although I'm pretty sure I could have driven the distance involved in fifteen minutes and then found somewhere to park, rather than the HOUR it took by bus. London buses are great when you're in no hurry - use 'em all the time - but when you've got a deadline, blimey!
Today we took the train to a friend's party and met up with DH and DS there - 1pm start and there was NO FOOD - only little canapes. Lovely for an evening party but DD and I were starving, having left without having any breakfast. So it was not very cheap as we ended up hitting Burger King on the way home as by 4pm we were dying of hunger :rotfl: A shame, because the party itself was nice, and it was lovely to see everyone. Also, I had to keep turning away glasses of champagne because I knew I'd be falling over with only an amuse-gueule to soak up the alcohol. Where's the fun in that?!
Still, the good news is that there is nothing like a burger at 4pm to stop you wanting supper. A bit of toast, a cup of tea, and I think I'll away to my bed.
Will be more OS next week, honest...0 -
Hi all, I went to asda today and hit the reduced section at just the right time now I have a mountain of bits n bobs in the freezer and top up shop with dd's packed lunch bits and two school trousers/packed lunch bag all for the sum of £15.94!!! The cheapest things were the flavoured chicken breast pieces for 2p!!! Maybe a mistake, but not mine. That lot should keep us going for a while.
Hope everyone is well hugs to those who need them ((((((()))))))-2lbs

Oooh well done PIGSMAYFLY on the whoopsies!
I'm another one who has arrived home absolutely shattered after a weekend away. We were down at my mum's helping her do more sorting and stuff after my dad died a few months back. Bless her she is doing really well.
On the plus side we have returned with: a new (to us) duvet set, a huge bag of plums, a huge bag of damsons, ditto cooking apples, two enormous beetroots and a lovely selection of home grown tomatoes. It's a real shame I have to go back to work tomorrow as I have some serious home-preserving to do! I've put the damsons in the freezer until the weekend and tomorrow I'll use the plums to make some spiced plum chutney when I get home.
Right, time for a very early night - I'm definitely ready for my bed! Take care everyone and hope the new week brings good things.0 -
kittie...appreciate that it is no fun being taken for granted, but I have the opposite problem with my grown up children....they seem to have decided that we are physically and mentally incompetent...as we are only 66 and 71 respectively I find it bl***y insulting, have decided that with children, no matter what their age, you can't win!
