It was getting tough in 2006 and the workhouse still threatens us in 2011

I'm very conservative (boring) about food, and I can't help screwing up my nose at the thought of this stuff somehow. Was it not just a way of using milk in cultures where it could not be kept cool or clean? I can't eat yoghurt and can't eat cheese - they make me sick, literally. So although it sounds good for ME I dont think I will try it.0

I'm with you on this one and I have ME, too. I can't tolerate much dairy, just a little milk and cheese but too much of either upsets my digestion and makes me all "mucus-y". And yoghurt-y things make me sick. Sorry, that's probably at bit TMI for this hour on a Sunday morning.
Had the 4th night in a row woken up in the wee smalls so running late and running ragged today. Slowly bringing my brain up to operational temperature whilst preparing to take off to the lottie again. Think it might be easier if I lived up there at the weekends and just visited home, rather than the other way around.
Hope everyone is having a good day, GQ xEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

For some reason my ME seems to always get worse in summer GQ. I actually prefer winter time. Weird.
Hope Taurusgb is ok, does anybody know her in RL ?0 -
Hi all
This is very much in line with our "Times are tough" thread so I've merged it.

Thank you for thinking about me. I'm now out of hospital but very tired and not really able to do much, so reading is easier than posting. Without saying too much on a public forum I have a long road ahead starting with a CT scan on Tuesday and an urgent Consultant follow up after that.
Really appreciate having these forums to read and it is so much easier to do so on my laptop rather than my phone as I had to do in hospital.
I am finding it VERY frustrating to have to leave stuff to my family to do though (reminder to self - do not shout when garden is over watered to the point of tomatoes drowning - the family are doing their best!:rotfl:)
DH is being wonderful and is working very hard at learning to bake bread, cakes etc (and he is doing SO well)
I love my family :jPeople Say that life's the thing - but I prefer reading

Just to say big hugs to you taurusgb - good luck with whatever the future holds.
And well done to your OH and family for trying so hard to keep things going - they will get there.0 -
Taurusgb I second that. Hugs to you and best wishes for recovery amd good wishes to your family too, who must hate to see you ill. Take care.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

((Hugs)) taurusgb.
I've had lots of CT scans in my time and I'd just like to say that the process of them is nothing at all to worry about, so please don't stress about that part of it. All the best and let's hope that it'll be the "least worst" of the possible outcomes from the investigations.
 Well, I made my flask and packed my lunch and stepped outside the door of the flat an hour ago and whoosh! the heavens opened. If I had a penny for every time that has happened........
The day looks set to be on/ off heavy showers so I had a rethink and decided to spend the day attending to the Domestic Engineering. I've been whacked out when at home or up at the lottie (or on the internet) and things are getting a bit out of order at Shoebox Towers.
It had got to the point where I was embarrassing myself. Normal people, so I am led to believe, do not have 40 cans on tuna on their bedside rug.
In my defence, I was doing a big stock-up shop last month at A$DA and saw these Princes tuna 4-packs going cheep-cheep at £3 so rang Mum and said how many did she want me to get for her? They are a staple in my parents' storecupboard and they also have 2 cats who have an extreme love of tuna. Fluffball will appear within 6 seconds of a can-opener, her slightly-less-greedy sister in 10 seconds. From anywhere in the house and garden, it's quite miraculous. So, each time one tin is opened for humans, a second has to be opened for the Moggies, and it all adds up.
Anyway, they are repositioned for the next few days somewhere more sensible as I will visit the folks over Bank Holiday Weekend and they will drop me back in their car and can collect the tuna and some books which I have got for my brother and I will temporarily have a bit more room at the homestead.
Well, once the tuna was repositioned and the camping gear moved off the floor, I decided I must haul out the larder trollies from under the bed and update the inventory. Having such a tiny home means that I have to store things in places where normal people wouldn't.....under the bed being the prime spot.I can update the running gag to reveal that there are 67 tins of tomatoes in there, plus 8 in the kitchen, and the 2 out on the counter for the chilli which I am cooking later today.:o ETA and 7 more in the sewing cabinet.
The Underbed Larder is not entirely populated by tinned tommies and is also home to some other varieties of tins and there are various caches of other things, edible and inedible, in various nooks and crannies but they are inventoried and I do know which order to use them by. Have almost impressed myself by managing to build a substantial storecupboard without apparently adding anything to the grocery bill in the past few months, which goes to show what you can achieve by being an absolute nutcase.......:rotfl:
Well, I must wander off and tidy up a small superfluous suitcase to offer it up to the c.s next week. After all, it is obstructing access to the tinned goods.;)Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
