Didn't you hear me? I've just managed to line one B****y kitchen curtain this morning. I spent all day yesterday stringing onions and I have plums, apples and tomatoes to do something with today when I have put the kitchen back together.

If I OS any faster I'll disintegrate with the friction.

    Now behave yourself!:D

    LMAO!!

but at least you can have onion soup and plum apple and tomato chutney in your one warm room ;)

Quick stupid question - how much of the green bit on leeks can you eat? Using them only for soup. I want to get them in today (before the rain comes back! )

Not if I don't sort the b*****s out I can't! There are 3 windows in my kitchen and I'm surrounded by ripe fruit that won't wait. My little legs are wearing out and I've hardly got going yet.

Anyway - got to go - stuff to do!

Mardatha - if you're going to liquidise the soup then quite a bit of the green can be used. The green bit is tougher than the white bit so not so good for using as a vegetable, although I do use some of it this way.

am stunned at the prices charged for small childrens ice creams - I am lucky to get change from £10 for four ice creams, but to the kids its a part of the day out and not exactly something I can take with me!
No, but if there a supermarket near by would it not be cheaper to get a box of icecreams for a couple of pounds.

Not much good for me as there is only two of us. Not really happy ditching the rest even if it was cheaper. As you could not give the rest away as no-one would take then from you. I know I am pig but I could not eat two or three icecreams.

kidkat- I hope the antibiotics work quickly and wish your daughter a speedy recovery.

Today I'm cooking dinner for the multitudes again, so I need to get my bottom in gear soon and get into the kitchen. I have some over ripe bananas that need using up, so banana cake for one dessert. My friend M's twin daughters have requested toffee sundaes, so I might make a white choc/caramel cake as a base for those, along with ice cream and homemade warm toffee sauce.
I think the main course is going to be comprised of chilli, lasagne, garlic bread, hot dogs, fries, rice, various veg and things to top the chilli with.
 Crikey it sounds like so much when I write it down like that. DH normally comments about how much food there is and then he goes into the kitchen for seconds and it's all gone.
Tomorrow I'm off to visit DPIL for a few days, so someone else will cook meals for me! Yeah!

Wow that sounds fab , shame you're so far away or I'd be angling for an invite! Enjoy being cooked for - I have to say I love it when we go to my parents and someone else cooks for me, I do love to cook but as I was a chef for years no one wants to cook for me as they think they would have to do something really fancy for me to be impressed, truth is beans on toast would be fine as long as someone else does it! Consequently we quite often feed others but only get invited back to parents from both sides. Fortunately I don't mind really, people have been turning up at mine at around teatime since I left home at 18 (long before I cheffed professionally) and I am a master at bunging an extra couple of potatoes in and stretching stuff for an extra portion, mostly I've made too much in the first place as never really been able to cook for small numbers after I got used to prepping for 8 - 10 portions for work.

Have pulled the garlic this week, very impressed with it, nice big bulbs. Yum. Also dug the last of the potatoes and got a tray full in the shed which will do us for about 2 months which is pretty good considering I didn't plant that many, we've also been eating them fresh out of the ground for the past 6 weeks or so. No sign of any of my toms turning red though so might be a green tomato chutney year.

    Have a good weekend everyone.:D
