Oh bloody hell!!!! I have a very expensive watch which I bought when I had money and never leaves my arm (before I had the house). I noticed this morning that there was some damage to the face so off I went into town at lunchtime. It seems I have given it a big crack and have broken the face. The bezel seems ok as hopefully are the diamonds but I am looking at a MINIMUM of £500 to have it repaired!!!:eek::eek::eek:

They are going to ring me with a proper quote when they start taking it apart.

Back to gruel for me then. Good job ebay have free listing this weekend. :rotfl:

Red have you any sort of insurance you can claim on?? Household policies sometimes contain *accidental damage* clauses.

I am with DDD (how is that lovely new dog of yours coming along, btw? ) redlady, phone the jewellers tomorrow and ask them to stop, and call your insurance company. Its obviously a very expensive watch, so you will probably need it listed as a single item on your insurance, but you should check.

Had a very OS meal tonight thanks to the best oven chips thread. It got me thinking about having chips, one thing led to another and I ended up having HM chips, local free range eggs, home-cooked ham and homegrown grilled tomatoes. It was smashing :T

Got something sorted out re the nuisance calls from marketers - I realised that the calls were nearly all to my mobile which I hadn't registered with TPS so I've done that now. I know there'll still be some but it will keep the volume down.

Yesterday's rain raised the river by about 8cm overnight but otherwise no apparent ill effects. I thought my chili plant would suffer but it seems fine - I'm also thinking it might actually be a plum tomato because it doesn't look like any other chili plant I've seen although I would swear it was a chili I planted .....

Did a bit of shopping in a local market town today. I saw a man with a very well trained staffie - and a can of v strong lager - at 11am. Saw him a bit later - in a public space near Asda - and he had removed his track suit bottoms and tee shirt and had just a pair of boxers on. The boxers were heading south pretty fast and I didn't hang around to see the outcome of that scenario :rotfl:

I visited several cs looking for a winter cover up for indoors as yesterday evening was quite cool. Ended up with a lovely shawl instead - and of course the temperature has now gone up again!

Hoping to finish my greenhouse this weekend so off to re-read the glazing instructions now - thick gloves at the ready :)

Kittie I will look up the molasses, that sounds like it should be good for you. I have been through stages of trying anything & everything to get rid of ME and have now accepted it ain't ever gonny happen. But some things might help :)
I have loads of leeks looking good now and I will lift them today I think - dont know if we get leek moth here but dont want chance it. Just fry gently in butter then freeze in bags ?
Definite nip in the air these mornings now, summer's gone. Am getting twitchy over the knitting bag and might start that soon.

Didn't you hear me? I've just managed to line one B****y kitchen curtain this morning. I spent all day yesterday stringing onions and I have plums, apples and tomatoes to do something with today when I have put the kitchen back together.

If I OS any faster I'll disintegrate with the friction.

    Now behave yourself!:D

Well things are definitely getting tougher, I have managed to take the kids on a couple of days out this week and am stunned at the prices charged for small childrens ice creams - I am lucky to get change from £10 for four ice creams, but to the kids its a part of the day out and not exactly something I can take with me! Did get lucky one day as I managed to grab a bag of windfall apples and pears.
Yesterday I was in the hospital all day with DD16 - it turns out she has been ignoring a water infection for weeks and it has now spread to her kidneys and she is very poorly - they were giving her IV antibiotics.

Well - yep stock market is looking "bad and badder"...alternates between "Crikey" and "Glad I made the decision years ago that me and my money would never have any involvement in all that....."...whew....

KITTIE :rotfl: at your comment re my Greenlife Juicer

"Yes SAH...will do SAH (errr...MA'AM) <clicks heels together and salutes> :rotfl::rotfl: ...well that and went for a check at the current price level....<gulp>. Have you got the same one as me?

Must admit that darn great thing ....and in the context of my little kitchen...is a bit of a daunting prospect... and its still in the "looks like a lot of faff" for someone who still has to spend not more than 30 minutes most days on food preparation and cooking for dinner (ie because its a workday).

So - is it as big a faff as it looks and do you use it for anything else besides juicing?

    ******************

Goes off thinking "Cor thats two things to try and summon up the nerve to do - have a go at that machine AND check latest financial paperwork to make sure all is going smoothly".

Dont know which sounds like most "nerve" is needed for. Just thankthelawd that I went in for that spell of "hell for leather" get shot of those debts Campaign a while back and they're all gone <whew>. I can have a quick bout of anxiety any day of the week anyway on "Is Society gonna come and grab at my finances to an Ohmegawd extent ever? Its already cut present and future income in this way/that way/etc" and worries in case it ever decides to come back for more (be it the Government planning on charging me more tax/some other way of getting money out of me OR businesses charging yet more for the goods/services I require from them). One of the "negative" points of getting older is one has seen just what a huge "battery of excuses" have been found (usually by the Government) to take another slice of one's expected income - be it salary/Dole Money or pension and the list is extremely long by now....:(. The Government is extremely good at figuring out ways to get money out of the ordinary person in the street on the one hand - whilst letting the rich (and some others...but its never me....darn it) keep ever more of THEIR money on the other hand....:(
