Hi everyone :) Have so many posts to read and catch up. Lovely to see you back gailey love as I missed you and hoped you were okay and your wee familyxx Thank you haribojunkie for your kind words regarding the tomatoes too:)
We had the heating off for ages but since yesterday it is def feeling colder now. Time to get the woolies out again. I was walking the dog this morning and noticed lots of brown leaves on the ground nearby where we walk him. Early isn't it? Must do some baking this weekend, as have lots of flour etc in cupboards and have been menu planning and storing up as much as I can. I too have noticed even the value items of food getting dearer and that makes me cross. It really is going to be tight for so many people, if not already. Take care everyone and have a good weekend. xoxoxo :)

Well this afternoon I had every intention of mowing the lawn as the grass has shot up with all the rain and humid conditions. However I found it's teaming with froglets  Can't take a step without something hopping. Drat! I love to look out at the newly mown lawn but can't justify mass murder. Now wondering if I may have to wait till they hibernate or the grass dries out

DH is going out tonight to a friends leaving do. I've been out picking plums and more runner beans so am planning to have a HM steak pastie with the beans, potatoes and peas, followed by plums and custard, yum. Cinderella has to have some perks.

Got the old KS'd bed to the skips on the trailer this afternoon with DS's help and DH instructing us on how to hitch it up. I've always just let him do all that sort of thing but with him out of action made me realise I'm pretty helpless without his expertise. So now I have a pretty good idea what I'm doing, though reversing a trailer onto the drive is still something to be mastered. DH still impressed I got down as far as I did. It's so good to have the garage free again.

SDG31000 Oh lass I feel your pain, (((hugs)))

Congrats to choc clare and charis - wonderful results. I can see you will both need to be very O/S to support your shildren through Uni - I don't know how you do it.

Jamanda hope you foot is dry:rotfl: its just the kind of thing I would do - in fact I am a catologue of disasters on my own!

Yesterday had a lovely mini meet-up with Smileyt as she said , what a lovely welcoming lady. I went home with a boot full of stuff for the donkey sanctuary fayre and we did our Mse swap of grub! Today been to Mums, she is definately slowing down a bit nowadays - I think theres a point around your 80's when you just want to have a bit of peace, I noticed the same with a lot of elderley relatives over the years.

Am feeling a little lacklustre at the mo so after my stint at the afore mentioned donkey sanctuary tomorrow I am having a bit of a rest for a few days to recharge my batteries - well thats the plan and you know how plans go :o

Quote: It looks as though the earth is cooling and we are in for some rough weather for the next 20+ years,

Oh 'eck. I've just turned 70 and I'm never going to see a lovely sunny English day again?
    Pass the painkillers!

:rotfl::rotfl: Its not just me then that has an "estimated expiry date..." in mind. It just struck me recently that I can guesstimate out the final Exit Date by just adding average female life expectancy onto the year I was born and "Crikey - it will be about xxxx year then. Hmm...well I'll live to see people retiring at 68 then:eek: - but not 70 or, worse, 75".

Is that summat that comes with age then and it just hit me for the first time?:rotfl:

GINNYKNIT - My mother has ALWAYS wanted a "bit of peace" and I think I must have been one of the quietest children on record as I was growing up LOL..so I cant really tell any difference to what I've always been used to. What I notice is some element of "loosening up a bit" (not much....but still....) on trying to turn me into a "clone" of herself. Think she's come to the conclusion that if I havent by now then I never will.....LOL..

KITTIE - Confession time - I've got a Greenlife Juicer too - and have had it for several years ....but errr...<cough> I've still not actually used it yet...ahem......but its there waiting for "when I have more time". Dont all get hopeful at once folks re "If both Kittie and ceridwen have duplicated that item of kitchen equipment as well as their storage boxes and dehydrator - then it must be good".....read the price tag first and then blanch and believe that yes...it really DOES cost that much...ahem...
  • So much to catch up on! I normally just use the internet on my phone these days but I don't get very far through on this thread.
Really nice to see some old faces back too, thinking of gailey etc

I have a decision to make at the moment, have a full-time permanent minimum wage job currently which isn't great but is manageable and I've got used to the wage coming in and have sorted a budget out which is working well. But I've been offered a 12 month temp zero hours job in something much closer to what I want to do as a career. I just don't know if I can afford to take it. My energy prices went up yesterday, the new job will cost me more in travelling and I really want to not be panicking about money. But it's such a wasted opportunity if I turn it down. Wish I knew what to do for the best!

Sorry to go OT, have got my budgeting in control thanks to these OS threads and now it's all up in the air again!
    Times is 'ard.

    ELLA.N.

Dont suppose theres any way you could turn the "either/or" dilemma into a "Both/and" situation is there? - ie do the job you want as well as the NMW one for a while and get a better idea of "how the land lies"??
