I understand what you're saying and feel that after the next 3 weeks of night shifts  I'll probably hand in my notice. I feel sick when I go in and worry about work when I'm not there. There seems to be no support (something which everyone else feels) and I feel very alone and exposed.
Fingers crossed I find something else soon.

I agree with unixgirluk. Life's too short to feel like this in your job. You've done what you can to raise your concerns and if they are falling on deaf ears now then I'm afraid I don't see anything changing for the better. Follow your instincts - as you seem to be doing! Many people have short-term or temporary jobs for a variety of reasons and I wouldn't worry about this counting against you in the future; it's the person that counts.
Try the link squeaky suggests.
You come across as a very focused and dedicated person with high standards so any future employer would be lucky to have you.

Ok def never seen that stuff here, although it references Skye so it must grow up there. I'm a fair bit drier and colder than Skye here. Is a pity cos sloe gin sounds amazing. As does the shillelagh ...0

kittie - Sainsbug's dried milk - own brand and Basics - is skimmed. I think most if not all powdered milk is skimmed. I use it to make yoghurt - 50g to make 500ml milk + 15g-20g to make it thicker.
Just checked how I'm doing on this month's Grocery Challenge - not very well, over 80% of budget gone alreadyI do however have loads and loads of stuff in stock and will be planning a menu that uses what I've got for the rest of the month and having lots of NSDs so should hit the target. Shouldn't even need fresh stuff as the garden is very productive at the moment.
I've been hit with a plague of phone calls telling me I can get assistance with the debt I'm struggling with - but I haven't got any! Some "third party" has let these people know I'm "in difficulty", hence the calls. They won't tell me who the third party is so I'm going to have a look at my credit report to see if there is anything on there. I'm starting to get a bit worried about identity theft. You knock one bugbear out of action and another pops up
Rain due later so I'm off to walk the dog before it sets in. Have a good day everyone."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
does anyone know how to dry out chillies please?
I dry mine out either in the oven once its been turned off and left to cool for about ten minutes or in the airing cupboard.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -

Thankyou for this! I had visions of 2 teaspoons in the pan, ready for some kind of chemical reaction wth the other ingredients..... and YES, I DID fail my chemistry O-level!!!
Thanks again, I'll give it a try before the summer hols are over (mind you, it's pouring down at the moment so it feels more like October than August)!

Where do you keep them after they have been dried out? The OH has given me some "burn your mouth off" type chillies!0

Re the Chilli Peppers - I have 6 plants, 2 mild, 3 medium and 1 hot and they are all loaded with chillies and I have no idea what to do with them all (my Dad bought them for me) as I've never cooked with them. Is it better to dry them than freeze them do you think while I discover ways of using them? And is there a fool proof way of knowing when they're ready/ripe?
I wish we had Blackthorn hedges near me. I love Sloe Gin, but I'm in a town and although it has extensive gardens running through it, I've not spotted anything that bears fruit, even in it's "wilder" parts
I did stumble across some blackberry bushes though a couple of weeks back on another walk but they were still green, although given that was the end of July, they may well be ready by now. I must check.
....not today though. Today we have torrential rain, and I mean torrential. I had to go into town for a dental appointment first thing and went into town afterwards. The road where the buses pick up/drop off couldn't be seen as it was a river of fast running water about 4" deep!
Several people had given up with their shoes and were just wading through the water bare foot. And when I was sheltering in the doorway of one shop, the metal sandwich board from Ph0nes4U next door FLOATED past and away down the street! lol.
I've never seen anything like it! I was soaked right down to my underwear by the time I got home, and the 14 litre bucket that I stood outside in the garden to catch water for my greenhouse plants before I left, was overflowing.

Chilis - I freeze mine whole and use them frozen. If they are dried I'd keep them in something airtight like you would herbs.
Hippeechiq - that rain sounds awful. I wouldn't go barefoot just to save a pair of shoes - too much yuck floating about in thatg much water  Hope you're all dried out now."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0
