Regarding Sloes, don't pop one in your mouth when you pick them, they are so sour that it dries your tongue out LOL
    Lovely in Jam though.
I feel quite pleased with myself today.
OH's zip broke on his leather motorcycle jacket,it was undoing at the bottom as he pulled it up.
He said he would need to buy another jacket on ebay.
I went on there myself and bought a new zip and this morning was spent replacing the old one.
He now has quite a smart looking jacket as the new zip is silver metal and has a hefty pull tag while the old was black plastic and the tag was all scratched.
It cost me £2.30 for the zip with free delivery and £3.50 for a packet of leather point needles(chisel tip) for the machine from the sewing machine shop in town ,which will come in handy when his leather trousers need mending next, as hand sewing leather that thick, is not finger friendly.

Thanks for all the replies re the nuisance phone calls. Never thought to look at the DFW Board because of having no debts! Credit report checked and OK. I signed up to the TPS years ago but the sort of companies who are calling now didn't exist back then so that might be worth looking into. I always uncheck marketing tick boxes etc. I certainly don't engage in conversation - I either say I don't understand what they are talking about or say "this is a nuisance call - don't call again" might add the TPS bit next time.

I've got a big batch of pasta sauce bubbling away - all of the veg, including the stock base and the basil, are home grown :T It's an experiment to see if using Thriftlady's hash can substitute for a stock cube - certainly smells good.

The rain has finally reached here but all outside jobs are done or can wait so I'll be on here for a bit and then do some sewing.

Hippeechiq - I remove chili seeds as I use them. Deseeding and slicing before freezing would be my preferred method but, as is often the case, when the chilis (or whatever) are ready to be prepped, I'm not ready to do the prepping so they go in whole :rotfl:

My other neighbour came round with a huge armful of rosemary that she had cut back so the microwave has been going, drying off the sprigs ready for storage!

I woke up feeling quite anxious this morning but keeping busy like this is helping to keep the anxiety under control! Anyone else feel the same?

You've just reminded me that I could have a go maybe at drying rosemary in my dehydrator. Has anyone dried any that way - and what did you make of the result? Confesses here to I still havent gotten round to trying out potatoes done in the oven with olive oil/lemon juice/fresh rosemary - must do so...must do so.....

Speaking of dehydrators - was talking to someone earlier today and mentioned I will use my dehydrator for something and she promptly said "OOOOH....you have a dehydrator...can I borrow the use of it through the LETS Scheme?". I actually hadnt even thought of doing so - having only got as far as vaguely thinking "Could use that dehydrator to help out others with preserving food as well somehow/sometime....". So came to an agreement with her that I wasnt keen on lending out a £250 odd dehydrator - but she is welcome to come round to mine and leave her stuff and I will dehydrate it for her under the scheme:D

Re the anxiety and "keeping it under control" - yep...I can resonate with that....

I guess there is "anxiety" as something that is to do with the person themselves and they would feel that way even in a smoothly-run Society and with everything "going according to Plan" and that is one thing. On the other hand - are the people who ARENT prone to anxiety of themselves and "run along just fine" mentally/emotionally - but will feel anxiety and/or depression if their Society that they live in is experiencing major problems that might affect them personally if they dont take great care to do everything possible to avoid being affected by them (and the scarey thing is Society's problems might still manage to "knock you personally on the head" with the best will in the world).

I know exactly where you are coming from - ie I imagine you are someone who "runs along just fine" of themselves - but is having anxiety and/or depressive thoughts because of the worry that Society's current problems will impact back on them at some point. That I WELL understand. I've done everything I possibly can to protect myself/pre-plan/etc to the nth degree - but there is still the "Look at whats happening out there in Society at large - is it going to come and knock on MY door?" and thats where the anxiety comes in and one has to try and "sweep it out the door with the rubbish". It sometimes takes a lot of "I've done the VERY best I can with the resources available to date and will continue to with whatever resources come to hand in the future - and I've done what I can - so now try and forget it" straight talking to oneself sometimes....

    **********************

Re nuisance stuff of any description (be it phonecalls, emails, letters, visits at the door) - the second I realise that is what it is I "terminate contact" instantly - eg the phone goes straight down. It doesnt happen very often at all once one has registered with all the "keep junk away from me" services. Having done that and given the "dust time to settle" I found that I'm maybe having to put the phone straight down/shut the front door immediately maybe once a month on average - so I estimate "junk" of any description probably doesnt take more than literally 2 minutes on average per month to deal with.
