Info from the Equal Opportunities Commision on sex discrimination and insurance here.

No problem with it from their point of view.

The EC recently backed down on plans to force insurers to ditch gender as a rating factor.

personally, I've never met a woman yet who could drive well ! Indecision, nervousness, applying make-up during the drive, reverse parking, etc...

That's so odd, because everytime I come across an idiot driver on the road, it's a man. Either driving too close, talking on their mobile phone, driving too fast or hogging the middle lane for no reason.

Men who wear any form of headgear whilst driving are the worst.

headgear aside, the above symptoms are all evident in female driving with the too fast exception, usually its the opposite, some middle aged bird in the menopause hogging the middle lane with 30 because "it feels safer"

Hey, i never said I was against women driving, or that men are better.

I'm just stating the obvious. Women have less crashes on motorcycles. Good stuff. But then I would guess, purely from my point of view, male motorcyclists outweigh female cyclists roughly 7-1.

Males simply drive further, for longer periods of time. Anyone can see that if your doing something for longer, your more likely to be impacted by it.

In this case, I saw research that men drove at least 3x longer and further then women on average in this country.

Therefore, they are also more likely to have accidents (3x more likely) and they are also 3x as likely to go into another male driver, which goes down in the statistics.

Therefore, are women better drivers because they drive less, therefore have less accidents?

It's nothing to do with being sexist and nothing to do with who's the better driver. Its to do with the fact that doing something more often will put you in a situation where you will be effected by it.

Who's more likely to injure themselves during sport? Someone who goes out and plays rugby 7 times a week, or someone who plays rugby twice a week?

Would you turn round and say the person who plays rugby twice a week?!

So, what is wrong with a business (run for profit) targetting those parts of society that are least risk? (for whatever reason).
  • According to the Institute of Advanced Motorists women aged 34 had the fewest accidents per miles driven and men aged 20 had the most. It is on their website but I cannot find it to post a link! I may have read it on the main site or the branch site, that is why I am having trouble finding it but the information is correct.

Nothing. However shouting out 'women make better drivers' IS sexist, either way you put it.

Let's face it, if there was an advert shouting 'men make better drivers' or 'men are better' at anything, it would reach the news at least and you'd have some old bag from womens institute spouting off about equal rights.

It happened not too long ago. Something to do with equal pay. They wanted equal pay, but didnt do equal work. She sat there with her scarf around her neck trying to mumble words out in her posh voice all about equal pay, but when challenged about equal work, shutup and changed the subject back to pay and maternity costs!

Men are always going to be more idiotic on the roads, thats a given, as we think...sorry, we know we can handle the car :D . When we end up in a hedge we blame a tyre or a pothole! :T

I think that's a ridiculous thing to say.
I think men provide better sperm than women. There are quite clearly differences between the genders.
What's the big problem with stating them if they are factual?

Sorry I don't understand what this drivel is about.
I am leaving this thread and going back to read a book.

It's called the "Police riders handbook to better motorcycling".

Perhaps some of you would be better off investing in some training to improve your riding/driving rather than waggling you w**llies about :-))

BTW - You can get your insurance reduced by going on certain courses e.g. Institute of advanced motorists.
I get a discount on my motorcycle insurance because I've been on a "Bike Safe" course run by the police.

No problem with it from their point of view.

That's because the EOC is run by a bunch of lesbians.

If I go out with my wife, I drive (e.g., 440 miles on Friday). She drives to work, the shops and her mum's.

I haven't had an accident in 20 years, she has had 4 and written two cars off (one wasn't her fault entirely, another woman drove into the back of her. If I had been driving it is less likely that the woman would have driven into me).

However, young men are idiots (generally) and will crash at speed. Old people don't drive much, are less likely to cause serious damage in a slow speed crash and would be able to pay for repairs without using the insurance company. ]

Women simply don't drive anywhere near as many miles as men.

I would not allow my wife to use a sexist insurer (tic).

    :)

    GG

Lisyloo. Your taking all this as an attack on females, and it's not, and looks like your taking it as a personal attack too.

    I love women!!

All I'm saying is, if you drive less, your less likely to be in a crash, thats pure common sense.

Your calling my stuff drivel and then your coming up with stuff about providing better sperm. !!!!!!?! Where did this even enter the debate? Thats one thing men can do and females never will be able to do.

How is my stuff drivel when you come up with that!?

You can also get a reduction on your insurance by not crashing, it's worked for me over 6 years! Only crash I been in in the UK is a women going into the back of the car behind me, which then went into me. Women had just picked up a new 206 and her excuse while shaking and crying was 'i couldnt find the brake, it's a new car'. Was literally brand new, 2 miles down the road, written off

Couldn't find the brake, I mean, come on! Her husband wasn't too impressed when he turned up!
