  • well they get on well together and play together but my youngest who is the middle child, i have an older child and she has 1 younger. will get over look by all the grandma, grandad and everyone (obviously apart from me and hubby and bro). but today i rang MIL to ask what food i need to take and she said nothing just make sure you fetch cereal for the boysoh and also buy something what my neice will eat cause she needs cereal too (what? why can't her mother buy her some? its started already) i know this sound terrible but she is going to treat us like a live in au pair. Like when she did a birthday party for her but i ended up doing party food as a guest whilst holding her while she was crying cause she hated her party dress. I dont want to go But ive got to now
  • oh and another thing i am a person who usually says what i think but i have always just let it go as not to cause arguements. So i am a bit of a ticking timebomb and i have got a feeling while we are away the plop will hit the fan:rotfl:got to laugh or ill:cry:cry

I would go and make the best of it - it is only a few days and it's a time to be with your kids and hubbie.
I would buy whatever you normally have as cereal for your boys and leave your SIL to sort her own family - if she doesnt cater for her kids and they have to share yours then they eat what you have and you keep your money for an ice cream or bag of chips. Why should you cater for them?
Alternatively you could suggest that each family put £x in a pot and all food is catered from that. No arguments and everyone can take a turn at cooking an evening meal. The only proviso being that who ever is cooking has freedom of choice regarding the meal that is cooked. Not all families enjoy the same meals but in a few days you will all get at least one meal that you will eat. In other words enjoy the meal that is out in front of you or go hungry!!
And finally chill out - relax and do your thing and ignore SIL if you have to - dont get riled by her. People who pick holes in others usually have issues of their own!!

OP - I dont want to blow my own trumpet - but have you seen my thread on Narcisism? your MIL sounds like a classic case.
  • Hi I would go but make arrangements for your own day trips with your own family. Maybe dont let on until your all ready to go then say " right we are off out for the day will catch you all later" then at least you are limiting the time you have to put up with all the others and you still get time with your family. As for the food, I would purely take food suitable for your family not everyone else. Its fine to share but you shouldnt be supplementing them!!!!

Good luck I hope its not as bad as you think it will be...your a brave woman lol
