A little update...booked my own boiler check with British gas for 9th august. Vendors now saying that if the man above them in chain hasn't found anything by next week they will move out for us.
Little suspicious that this fits with them not being there when boiler is checked!0 -
That sounds very odd. Mind you, I'm the suspicious type

I'd tell my solicitor to drag it along a bit until after the 9th. Tell them that you will not be paying any deposit/exchanging before the boiler and tank are fully checked."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Should i just be grateful to get in though? As we're wanting a new boiler anyway am I being a little picky?0

I think you have answered your own question here. If you are planning on replacing soon then don't stress. It is unlikely they are living in a house with a boiler that doesn't work. And nothing stops a boiler breaking five minutes after you move in.0 -
Also, re the tank, just ask the buyers themselves!!0

Honestly... I think you might be being a bit picky, given your circumstances (ie planning to change the boiler imminently). We are buying a house and planning to change the boiler so couldn't care less if it works or not. Maybe it would be better to bring forward the boiler replacement to the day after completion, so you can have it done and dusted before moving in (if this is an option for you)? Or the week you move in? It just seems a lot of effort to go to for a boiler you are planning to change (especially one that's 12 years old). Effort that might be better invested in researching and choosing the best boiler and installer for your needs, as this is what will be with you for the next ten years or so, not the old one.0 -

To add, ask the estate agents for their contact details, not about the tank!0 -
Unfortunately the 9th was the earliest British gas could do. We still want the check so that we know if it's sage to use until we get the new one, may take us a month to have all the funds.
I'm so desperate to be in the house, it's now been 8 weeks since offer accepted. I can see why they say house buying is stressful! Dont think I'll bother arguing if we're given a move in date before the check.0
