Gers, sounds like it will be an exciting trip.
Jackieglasgow, hope you make it through the day on that little sleep  I woke up with the sun this morning as bloooomin usual and am nackered
Belated happy birthday to taplady
Today i'll mostly be "organising", need to drag the biggest box of my stuff out into the garden and do some serious clothes pruning. I want to put some on ebay but not got time atm so will do it come september, it's mostly cooler weather clothes anyway.
Going to do a DIY facial tonight, i'm very into these, especially acid peelsLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
Morning everyone,
I'm not a regular poster on here, more of a lurker but I'm awake early this morning so I have been reading this and other threads.
I too have been reading about Amy Winehouse. What a terrible waste, and such a shame. My thoughts are with her poor family, who have been going through this with her for years and will have to suffer again.
It is forecast to be a sunny day here so I will strip the bed and wash the bedding in the hope that it can be dry and back on the bed tonight.
Breakfast is porridge and honey, mmmmmm.....
I am trying to plan all of my meals this week so that I only buy what we need. Today we will be having sandwiches for lunch then a turkey joint from the freezer later when we are all back together. I also want to list a couple of things on ebay to try to make some money.
I am hoping that if I plant some more mixed salad leaves there will be a crop for late summer so I'll try a tray of those later as well.
I want to do some baking today as well. I made a banana loaf last weekend and it was ace, really good so I shall look through the recipe thread for inspiration.

Happy Birthday Haribo - hope you have a wonderful day!
JackieG - hope work goes quickly for you and that you're soon topping up your tan:) x
Think we're either painting the pigeon loft or cutting the hedge today:cool: wonderful.
back to work tomorrow after 9 days off, have enjoyed my break although I have missed my friends from work as they are a wonderful bunch of people:)
After my recent spending splurges its back to some serious saving for me, need to replace my Sistercas fund and add to it for Christmas plus need to replace my emergency fund.
I found the Misers cookbook that JackieO kindly emailed me the other day so I want to have a good read of that again for some ideas.
Hope you all have a lovely day, my thoughts are with those missing loved ones today x
edited to say - Just read the very moving piece from Frugal Queen's blog. Very well put,:TDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning my lovelies
Lovely and sunny here. Hope it continues as we are at yet another birthday party this afternoon
Just reading the eye witness accounts of some of the poor people on the Island in NorwayKiller reckons the murder was "necessary", I don't envy the job his of his solicitor.
Anyway plans for this morning are to use up some of my courgettes and make a quiche. I've got a chicken currently roasting in the oven which will be for tea later. I need to weed and tidy up the veggie plot too so I really ought to get my butt into gear. Carp night sleep with DD, she keeps waking between 4-5am wanting to get into our bed. Operation sleep-all-night-in-your-own-bed starts tonigth <sigh>
Molly - glad you had a good trip with Mooloo
Redruby - sorry DD didn't get the job
Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Good morning all. What a lovely day it is here.
Thanks for the link to Frugal Queens Blog. It's one I've added to read regularly. Another person sad but not shocked at the death of Amy Winehouse, and yes, so easily could be any of our daughters.
Today I'm planning my menu's and shopping list for the next couple of weeks whilst OH is out on a 10 mile run:eek:.
Then I have ironing to get out the way, we want to get the mowing done whilst it's dry and finish off the raised bed area of our garden.
Hopefully it'll be nice enough for OH to do a bit of paragliding this afternoon and we'll go up to visit the In laws and he can just wlak up the hill if conditions are right and I'll sit and keep them company.
Dinner tonight is Smoky chicken wraps and spicy rice salad with fruit salad for pud.

Taplady sorry I missed it so belated happy birthday. Hope the recipes help a bit. A lot of the recipes I gleaned from this board and some from my own hand written cook books.
Reverbe There is a quote often miss-quoted about 'the past being another country best not visited'. Yesterday has gone today is here and tomorrow will bring something new I hop.We all have good times and bad times in our lives and looking back on themm won't change a thing If a friend only counts you as a friend because of what you have materially or physically then its not much of a friend I have many folk that I know and have met over my long life some have been friends and driftedout of my life some have stayed and I still see them but true friends accept you for what you are in yourself.Whether you have a partner or a fancy job what differance should that make to a friendship.I no longer have a job (I'm retired) I no longer have a partner (my OH died in 2003) my health isn't great but every day when I wake up I am so pleased to do so.Think of the alternative
Yesterday a young lady singer with apparently lots of friends and great talent lost her life in a sad and lonely way.Her parents must be grieveing for their lost childs life so be glad you woke up this morning and look the world in the eye and say so what I may not have many things, but I have life and what I do with it and how I spend it will be down to me and no one else.Life is for living, so live it you only get one go at it and its not a rehearsal
Today I amjust waiting for my DD to arrive with a bag of tinned soups and sardines that her Ma-in-law has sent down for me She had them given to her so we are splitting it between us .
A bit of ironing to do then feet up and finish my library book off its called The Help by Kathryn Stockett and its un-put-down-able.I started it last night around 8 and never turned the t.v. on once :)set in 1962 in Jackson Missisipi its about three women and the events in their lives. Some funny ,some sad and most very thought provoking.Well worth a read.
Right I'm off to get the coffee perking Have a great day everyone
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Hello everyone!
What a tragic weekend it has been. That's all I'm going to say as many other people on this thread have put it much more eloquently than I can.
Sunday morning and I'm still in my dressing gown. Whoops! Shower in a minute whilst DH is washing my car  He's fab and I'm lucky to have him (yes, he's reading this over my shoulder). Then I'll be tackling the second half of my ironing pile.
I'm heading up to my parents' house later as for the 3rd year in a row I've got a summer holiday job for the Harvest period starting tomorrow. DH doesn't have any more holiday left as we've had our "main" holiday earlier in the year and this extra money will mean that we can do more on our house. I will be back at weekends though, especially next weekend as it's our 5th wedding anniversary!
Anyway, I'd better go and prove to DH that I CAN tackle the 2nd half of the ironing pile instead of spending all day on MSE!

Morning All
What an awful weekend it has been...... first Norway, The Chinese rail crash and Amy Winehouse still I hope it stops at the three.
Can't believe under Norwegian law the maximum sentence that madman can get is 21 years :mad:
Woke up sneezing like a loon this morning and the antihistimine hasn't kicked in yet.
DH has gone car booting with his Dad, DD is at her BF's and has been all week and DS is still in bed - so I have a nice quite morning.
Have a load of washing in as it looks set fine all day:).
I am also going to empty my freezer and give it a good stock rotation today so I have kept the blind down in the utility room so it stays cool in there.
Beemuzed I hope all goes well with DS's scan x
Well I am off to get started on the freezer before it gets too warm and then I will have to leave it for another day
have good days all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
