O2 v AOL

It means that the ADSL circuit will be reconfigured so that you could in theory get up to 24 Mbps speed (note this is a theoretical maximum, it is impossible to get 24 because of the overheads, data bits to denote packet type. IP address headers, ATM and ethernet transport headers, etc) along with line condition, distance from exchange etc.
Max you will get is 21 Meg under optimum conditions, but how much improvement you will see depends on what you get currently.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0 -
Hi Again!
I've tried to work out on the online AOL help just what I've got!
Not too much luck though! Can't really see it without calling, but did clik a 'free of cost' upgrade to 'Up to 24Mbps Speed'.
So not sure what that does, but will be added within 48hours!
Thanks Again

That's not going to work with the modem you have...it simply is not capable. Are they going to send you a new router?0 -

All I did was clik in a box on their help page!
& there's me thinking I'd asked an easy Q - thanks again All!
Called them now & they're sending a 'free' router, but had to renew contract for 12months, but still at same price & deal, so guess it's not much more than if I'd bought a router myself!
Will let you know if things improve!
