using up pate?

I have a large slab of it in the freezer and I need to take it out soon.
Are there any recipes I can use it in, like meatloaf or anything?

Has the pate been 'baked' before freezing?

Not sure - I got it reduced at the deli counter and they assured me I could freeze it. It was from one of those plastic 'loaf-tin' containers.

I've never tried this myself but apparently pate works well with pasta as a filling for ravioli or tortelloni.

Oh, never thought of that. Someone suggested mixing it with minced beef (instead of minced pork) to make bolognaise but not sure if that would work - I suppose the only way to find out is to try it. But I could see that you could use it to stuff pasta, thanks JCL

    Hi everyone,

Happy new year to you all.

Can you help ? I have a large block of pate I got a couple of days ago cheap, it has a few days left on it - shame though it doesn't say suitable for home freezing. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do with it apart from pate on toast?crackers etc.

    Thanks in advance !

I'd slice it up and freeze the slices.
Then defrost them in the refrigerator as you need them

    Pate does freeze

Thanks for replying cymro1170, but how can you be sure it hasn't been previously frozen and defrosted?

    I don't.

But I've been doing it for ages with no problems.
I love pate - but can never manage to eat the whole lot

I freeze it quite regularly too, as does my Mum with no ill effects.
Alternatively you could spread it on a chicken breast/fillet steak & wrap in puff pastry for a beef wellington type dish.

I asked the same question last year and one of the replies was to use it in pasta like ravioli. I didn't in the end as I was able to use it for an unexpected party. But I do freeze it too.
