ungrateful rels wanting receipts for present returns

Well if you've tried money and that's not "acceptable", not a lot left is there?
In future send them the receipt for the donation you've made to charity on their behalf...
edit - this seems to be one of those "great minds think alike" moments... lol.0 -
Next year get her family something from here:

You can even dedicate a tree in a wood near to where she lives and she gets a map so she can take the children to see it.
I personally think it's a lovely present.
Edit: Can I join in the "great minds" club? lol"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

mrcow that is a lovely idea but I know she won't like it as I've tried it with other charity things, she reckons they are all a 'rip off'!
Thanks for all the lovely supportive responses, I think I will just grit my teeth and send money from now on, I don't feel like sending them anything really but at the end of the day I don't want to feel negative at such a lovely time of year.
I think if gifts are sent with love and warm feelings and the best of intentions, then it shouldn't matter what it is really.
Thanks guys for the postings, its made me feel a lot better.

:rotfl: So the fact that she's not actually the one paying for it has been completely lost on her then! :rotfl:"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

Sorry but gobsmacked~HOW bloody rude:mad: Fair enough they might not have been suitable but personally I'd either try to exchange them myself or keep them to save hurting the feelings of the "giver":o
So not worth worrying about....at least that's a bit less effort needed next year for you.A fiver/tenner in a card and that's that:beer:New Year~New Start!!

I think that she is really rude too!
Next year have a look at www.thebookpeople.co.uk
They have some really good books about a quarter of the price that you would pay elsewhere - for children and adults.
I got a box set of ten books for children that should have been £50 for £10! Split them up for DD (10) to give as pressies.
Or if you are really fed up suggest you buy them each a selection box as a "token" as you never seem to get what they like!
If she had any decency she would blush!!!!!;)"This site is addictive!"

Well I personally think she is really rude and unthoughtful, I am always grateful for the presents my kids get and would never dream of taking them back or saying i didn't like them. As an adult I have been bought things that aren't my favourite but I was brought up to be polite and appreciate the thought behind them. I am sure I get gift ideas wrong sometimes but try my best but we are all sucked into having to get the perfect pressie for people and I don't know why, its not like they are going to die if they get something they weren't desperately wanting. Also my hubby is out of work at the mo so I appreciate everything the kids get cos we can't do much ourselves at the mo.THE SHABBY SHABBY FOUNDER0

It's such a shame that people always look at the monetary aspect of presents and not the thought and giving of them, made all the worse by their apparent ungratefulness of them. I think you're right in sticking to money from now on, let's hope your sil doesn't moan about how much you give!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

I think that is awful, I would not be bothering myself with buying for any of them in future.0
