Provendent.......New ploy to get more money from us.

Well, yesterday morning, I got a phone call from my Provident Agent to say.......... they have found 3 debts in my name.

She gave me the company name and the amounts ( i am assuming these are the debts thats I have in my signature under DCA £???.

she had the original company names not the DCA names.

She told me That Provident have a new scheme, where they will pay these Debts and i will then pay them and they will deduct money off each account to "help" me !

I could not talk to her as I had company at home. So she is going to call on Monday.

Now I have no intentions of getting any more loans but I want her to call, as I want to know.

1. Who gave permission to search my credit file now ?

2. If they have had this information from searching when I first applied for a loan, have they got the right to hold that information, after giving me a loan ?

Any information welcome, for when she arrives on Monday, expecting me to sign up for another 3 loans.

On a good note, I now know that the amount that was £??? is £600

they have been buying a load of old debts, tell em to take a walk
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    Hiya chanz4,

Am I to assume that there are now a DCA aswell now ?

As anyone ever paid there provident via standing order ? If she is now going to be at my door every week harassing me for other payment I would rather she did not call at all. But I need to pay my loan payments.

Hi neverlearn , my advice to you is , ring Provident tell them you do not want to take uo their offer , tell them you want another collector to call at your house , what they are trying to do is get you to take out a loan with them to pay debts owed to dca , s , this is illegal , tell them you are seeking advice and will be making a complaint to the relevant regulatory bodies,it is never a good idea to take out a loan to pay a debt , this just puts you in more debt ,

    Hiya wrinkles.

I think they maybe thought if I was faced with my collector every week I would take out the loans ?

I cannot believe this ? I can see me having a full scale battle on Monday !

Let us know what they say , Provident are a scumbag outfit who prey upon people who are living below the poverty line, credit unions are a much better option .

I will keep you updated. It will be Monday before there is any new information from Provident. I am going to write a list of questions to ask and the names of the relevant legal bodies. Doubt she will be expecting all that. And to top all that. I believe the three debts are over 6yrs old. Wont go on about it as it all in my diary thread.

In my diary thread. I posted a few days ago that, I had been to my local credit union and put in £5, she explained everything to me, so I am going to put into there regularly. Lady said it should not be a problem to get a loan but they do like to see regular saving first. So that will be my safety net in future, should I ever need a loan again. Hopefully not.

Provident have bought the debts from dca's, they are not breaking any laws as they are offering an intrest free refinance plan and you can decline it.
